JPEG doesn't show picture

Paula,
The pictures should be called xxxxxx.jpg. These are not the thumbnails. Your computer can always make thumbnails, but the jpg files should have a name and at least some content.
If you can't view the pictures, please don't delete the pictures on the card and please don't format the card.
Again try to copy the pictures to your computer, to a different folder and use the file browser to see how the pictures look.
If you deleted the pictures don't make any pictures on the card and use a recover program to retrieve the pictures. Almost every memory card firm does have such a program.

On these sites you find software to recover files (pictures and more) from a "damaged" memory card or even from a hard drive.
free software to recover your files on a memory card:
www.cardrecovery.com
www.wondershare.net with free trail
www.cardrescue.com with free evaluation version
http://www.memorycard.freedatarecoverysoftware.org
Some programs will show the deleted files, but only recover a few files. If you want to recover more files they want you to pay. If so, try another program on the list.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Your pictures are corrupted. You can recover pictures from memory card with this
1. Do not save any new photos into the memory card of your camera.
2. Insert the memory card into a card reader. Connect it with computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is Tenorshare Data Recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoverystandard.htm
4. Install and open the program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your currupted pictures.

How do i get the internal memory pictures onto my computer?

Simply remove the memory card from your camera before connecting the camera to your computer. The computer will then see the camera's internal memory instead of the card memory, and you can copy the pictures over.

If you have been accessing your pictures by removing the card from the camera and placing it in a card reader attached to your computer, then this won't work for pictures in the internal memory. You will need to use the other method, connecting the camera to the computer with the USB lead.

Hello

OK, well, if the pictures was on the memory card, you have 2 options.

The fist option:

Download THIS.

Download this free tool and run it on you card and it should be able to recover all pictures provided that you have not used the card since formatting. I recommend using a card reader for this.

After downloading and running (no installation required) , simply select deep scan and your memory card and it will start scanning, To recover a found file , right click it and select save.

Please note that the file names will probably not be available and also that some of the properties of the photo like date taken could be lost.

Second option:

Remove the memory card from the camera so that you will be able to access the internal memory. Follow THESE steps to transfer the photos from your internal memory to your computer. These steps should be followed without the memory card in the camera.

Please let me know when you have recovered your pictures safely or contact me if you need further assistance.

Regards
Andrea

Sony cyber-shot camera problem w/hard drive

Hello

My apologies if this message finds you long after posting this problem , but I am currently working through a backlog of problems that never got answered and hopefully this info can still be of use if not now possibly in future.

Please download Disc Digger HERE. This is a free tool you can use that works very well and there is no installation required, just run the program once you downloaded it.

Once you have connected the memory card to the computer via either the camera or preferably with a usb card reader , run the program.

On the program , select the dig deep option for accidentaly deleted files or dig deeper for a formatted card. Then select the card you want to do the recovery on and run the program.

The data will be displayed and you can recover it from there. This will only work if the card has not been used since the pictures were lost. Save the files to a location on the computer hard drive and not back to the memory card as this will overwrite the other pictures that still needs to be recovered.

Some of the properties of the files may become lost in the recovery but the pictures should be fine.

Feel free to ask if you need more assistance.

Kind Regards
Andrea

Recovering pictures from memory card

Try photo recovery software to rescue the lost pictures, here are some you may rely on. Both programs can also recover videos and music.

Photo Recovery Software (for Windows)
Mac Photo Recovery Software (for Mac OS X)

Be careful: Before your pictures are recovered, do not attempt to save more files to the memory card(digital camera) in case the original files(your pictures) are overwritten.
