I am having a problem getting into the service menu. In order to get anything on the display other than the e 003 code I have to open the front door before I power it up. What is this error and how can I clear it. Exactly how do I get into the service menu.

E000001-0002 refers to the fuser assy either getting to hot or not hot enough. Fuser error codes cannot be reset by power cycling the machine even though that is what the display tells you to do. In order to reset the fuser error code you must enter the service mode & reset the code. To enter the service mode: press"Additional Functions" button (looks like a picture of a head with a star inside) press the #2 and #8 at the same time (simultaneousley) press "additional functions" again The display should show a choice of copier, feeder, sorter, fax,or board service modes Select copier select clear select ERR press OK Turn power off & back on.
After clearing error stay at the machine to see if it comes to ready. The fuser assy can reach 139 degrees C.(Water boils @ 100C) The error can only be cleared through the service mode because a technician should inspect the fuser to verify there is nothing faulty that could possibly start a fire. If you enter the service mode & clear the error, power cycle the machine & during warm up the machine throws a code again- turn it off, unplug it & call a tech for fuser repair.
Enter the service mode (Press "Additional Function" key, Press "2" and "8" simultaneously, press "Additional Function" key again). Go to COPIER----FUNCTIONS-----CLEAR----ERR. Here you can reset all error codes on by one. If you will need more help you can get the service manual for the copier from the below link: http://goo.gl/qVZLO Good luck
This is standard error code for Canon and the fuser unit. The error can be reset by being ready to go into service mode quickly. First press the additional function button, then the 2 & 8 keys at the same time and then the additional function key again. The display should change to the service mode screen, indicating " COPIER " and other accessories. Press " COPIER " then accross the top you should see a menu and select "FUNCTION" then select " CLEAR", then " ERR ", then " OK." This will clear the error from the copiers memory. Turn off the main power switch, wait a few seconds, then turn the copier back on. If you continue to have this error you will have to replace the fixing assembly and if it is similiar to the IRC3220 then you ahve only two screws to remove and the whole unit comes out. You will be saving a service call and I do believe the fuser is over $500. I usually don' tknow the prices of items until I have to do a quote for a customer. Good Luck.
Hit the "MENU" button, Scroll down to "Tray Settings", hit the center
button "Paper type" will display, hit the center button again "MPF" will
display, hit the center button again scroll to "Plain 1" then hit
center button again.
In the Phaser 6250 Color Laser Printer Service Manual (which I had to have emailed to me from my toner supplier since it is not available to the general public) I went to Chapter 6 - Error Messages and Codes. I had to reboot the printer. Here is the procedure.
Entering by rebooting the printer:
1. Turn the printer power OFF
2. Hold down the Back and Information buttons simutaneously and turn the printer
3. Continue to hold the buttons until the following message is displayed on the front
panel: Service Diagnostics V#.##, Initializing ....., and then release the buttons.
4. The front panel displays the Service Diagnostics Menu.
On the display is a menu. Find Transfer Roller. Press enter on this menu where it says Toner Waste (Not Full). Back out of the menu.
All of a sudden the machine came to life. You may have to turn off the printer and turn it back on again.
