Blank screen

Did it boot all the way? Do you hear the fan running, disk drive spinning? If it sounds like it booted but the display is black, try this:
When you press the power button do you hear fansrunning, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lightsconstantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer ofthe DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying toboot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Display on dell d 610 wont turn on

Display won't turn on? You mean the screen is blank? If so it can be that the lcd screen is bad, the lcd inverter is bad or the vga video card is bad. You can narrow down the problem by plugging in an external monitor into the laptop then press FN+F8 keys to get the display on the external monitor. If it shows on the external that means the video card is ok. If the video is ok remove the external monitor and reboot again. Use a flashlight and shine it on the display if you can bearly see the icons in the background, that means the lcd inverter is bad and needs to be replaced. If you see nothing and the computer has booted up, the fans are running the lights on the right under the lcd shows the disk blinking and the powerlight is on, then you probably have a motherboard issue. The LCD screen doesn't turn on when the computer is turned on

Does the power light stay on? You should see the Hard drive light blinking for quite a while after the computer is turned on if the computer is working and the display isn't. Is there a hot key for your laptop that sets lightness and darkness for the display? You might mess with that. If those don't work then you need a professional.

Have a Eee PC 701 SD. I can turn on the laptop but once it's on nothing is displaying on the screen. I tried every button possible but nothing works.

Its possible that the LED light that illuminates the screen is dead. If you look very closely can you make out any information on the screen or is it absolutely black? If you can see text or Windows, then its likely the backlight.

If you cant, try plugging an external monitor in to see if it is even booting. Also look at the HDD light (bottom right of the keyboard) to see if it flickers on and off while starting. If there are no lights, then you may have a dead unit... Get er fixed.

My Gateway 450ROG laptop/notebook has problems on start-up. Whenever you turn it on, the fan starts up, then the three lights blink and there is a tone heard immediately after that. But there is nothing...

Try hooking the Laptop to an external monitor like from your desktop pc,,you can see the connection on the back of the laptop,,When you do this, and you can see Windows on the Desktop monitor,,then this would indicate that your Back light on your Laptop screen may have burnt out .

Powers up but black screen shows

1st - Try pressing <Fn> + <BrithnessUP> keys a few times, (on HP <Fn> key is between <Ctrl> key and <Windows> key, <BrightnessUP> key is <F8> key and <BrightnessDown> key is <F7> key. If nothing happens try the 2nd one.
2nd - Plugin external monitor, (type and size doesn't matter). Turn on your laptop. If you can see desktop on the external monitor, your drivers are o.k., The problem is your laptop display, NOT the graphic chip.
