Question about Dell W1700 17 in. HD-Ready LCD Television
I'm having this same problem as well except it occurs as a "green static" which shows up in a certain hue of black. There is a much less noticeable blue static which occurs in certain hues of blue as well.
Could this be one of the boards faulting out? Is there a simple component that I could replace and solder in?
There is a picture of the problem. It is slightly exaggerated in the pic.

John here, a customer advocate at Dell headquarters. You can access the main menu by pushing the MENU button. From there you should have access to brightness and contrast controls, color settings, and image settings, among others. You should be able to adjust the settings so that white looks white, and black looks black. If you can't get it where it needs to be from these controls, it may indicate a problem. Call support if that is the case.
