surf to the laptop manufacturers website, look for a driver to download for your laptop and operating system. Download it. execute it. then your sound should come back to life. Integrated sound cards often require some special software to make windows run them properly.
hope that helps.
A mini note book is a very restricted device - with plain standard audio hardware - go to HP.com - select software and drivers - put in your product number then select your OS - down load the audio driver package.
You say that you get sound from the speakers but not the headphones,, what i advice you to do is going to control panel, go in hardware and sound, in device manager, look for your sound driver for example, sound max, once you found them right click and uninstall, afterwards restart your pc, that should fix your sound by reinstalling your drivers, if that doesnt work i recommend going to control panel sound settings and switching sound outputs..
I found I had lost my sound and at 1st tought it was an audio based app but later found it was drivers installed via windows update. The only driver that works is the one from the Tosh site for the original hardware. After you have installed the driver run windows update manually and uncheck the line for the sound card update. This is remembered and auto updates does not apply it next time.
