I am assuming that you are installing this on VISTA or XP. First of all you should make sure that you are actually connecting to a reliable power source because most of the time the USB enclosre you are connecting to would not supply sufficent power to power up the drive so I do not think that at this point in time it is a driver issue. Also make sure that if you have 2 wires you connect BOTH and not just one of them to the USB. If you have WIN XP Service pack 1 upgrade to Service pack 2. Vista should be ok. Another thing you should check is that if you have another computer (different brand if possible) see if this drive works fine on the other one. Also make sure that if you are connecint you hard drive to the FRONT USB try the BACK ONES and seee if that improves matters. Last thing you should check is the BIOS settings: make sure that you are the voltage of the USB's is set to the highest possible and that the mode is USB 2.0 (in CMOS). Hope that these solutions will solve your issue!
