Hi there

I am assuming that you are installing this on VISTA or XP. First of all you should make sure that you are actually connecting to a reliable power source because most of the time the USB enclosre you are connecting to would not supply sufficent power to power up the drive so I do not think that at this point in time it is a driver issue. Also make sure that if you have 2 wires you connect BOTH and not just one of them to the USB. If you have WIN XP Service pack 1 upgrade to Service pack 2. Vista should be ok. Another thing you should check is that if you have another computer (different brand if possible) see if this drive works fine on the other one. Also make sure that if you are connecint you hard drive to the FRONT USB try the BACK ONES and seee if that improves matters. Last thing you should check is the BIOS settings: make sure that you are the voltage of the USB's is set to the highest possible and that the mode is USB 2.0 (in CMOS). Hope that these solutions will solve your issue!

My computer does not reconize my Trekstor datastation maxi mu. What can I do?

click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems also make sure the computers Ram and Cmos battery are securely seated
if this fails to fix the problem

you might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap
hope this helps

I dropped my TrekStor DataStation maxi g.u - 3.5"

Hello

You need to understand that a hard drive is very similar to glass, if you drop it, its done for, and it breaks.

contact a data recovery service if you had something of importance in the drive, you will not be able to recover anything out from it yourself if you really dropped it.

they break, they can break even if the case falls over on it self on the table.

let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.
Ekse

I have a external Trekstor DataStation maxi 500 Gb hard drive. I now have encountered a constant red light and when this happens the drive is not visible in Explorer. When I turn off the power and then...

At the least, the device is "unreliable", and it would be wise to replace it, either by exercising the warranty (if the warranty still is valid), or by opening the enclosure, removing the disk-drive, buying a new (and compatible) disk-drive, inserting the new disk-drive, and closing-up the enclosure, to create a "new" external storage-device.

I just had this problem with both my external drives (I was using the same power cable and just alternating between them). I went and got drive B's power cable and they work fine now. Try replacing the power cable

Trekstor Storage device

I have an answer on how to fix the Trekstor Datastation "Removable Disk" problem.

I also own a Trekstor Datastation 500GB and had the same problem even though it worked for several months then all of a sudden when I tried to hook it up to another computer, it stopped working. It would recognize the USB connection but you could not read the drive as it would say "Removable Disk".

In "Device Manager" it recognizes the drive as Sundata USB2SATA. But what it really should be is "WDC WD50 00AAVS-32ZTB0 USB Device" or something similar to that. For those that are wondering, yes, the hard drive is a Western Digital Hard Drive. Western Digital Caviar to be exact.

Solution: You need to open the cover to the hard drive and reconnect the hard drive to the connector on the board. It's that simple!

It is very loose and this model is not well designed so it can easily come off if you accidentally knock over your hard drive or move it to another location. The hard drive is held in place by screws on a holder where there is room for the screws to slide if the screws are not tight enough.

You'll need a T10 screwdriver bit to remove the cover and a Phillips screwdriver to adjust the hard drive.

NOTE: Doing this will probably voids your warranty but trust me, it works and it's really easy and quick to do. Took me 15 minutes.
