DVD tray will not open.

Have a look around the tray and see if you can spot a small hole (about a millimetre or 3/64" in diameter) in the fascia. Very often bang in the middle right below the tray.

If you find it, you're in luck. Get a large paper clip and unwind it until you have a long straight piece of stiff wire with a small handle on the end.

With the power off, gently push this wire straight into the hole. The secret is to go straight in, perpendicular to the fascia. What you're trying to do is to press on a small pad hidden behind the hole: if you miss this, there's no knowing what you might disturb instead.

If you get the wire in the right place, and the whole thing hasn't seized solid, pushing gently on the wire should unlatch the tray - after which you can gently slide it open and get your disc out.

I had a similar problem with my fathers XBV342, my problem was that the DVD tray would open but when a disc was inserted it would close then open again time after time.
I took the top off of the unit and the front cover fascia panel off then checked the tray movement, I found that the belt for the tray motor located near the front of the tray was loose, which meant that the motor did not raise the drive motor to its correct location, which in turn didn't allow the motor to turn the disc, this causes the tray to open again, I guess it thinks it has a misaligned disc and ejects the tray, I hope this helps someone.
