Just look for the reset button or go to menu then select factory default setting .If not have reset button just take the battery of the camera and then reinsert the battery purpose is to erased the memory setting before then check whether it is perfect sometimes the battery gets leaked and does not get work properly removing the battery and reinserting also reset and I hope it works properly as it was working before.

When opening the lcd screen on my nv-gs17 the screen is blank, although the camera works just fine

Has the camera been switched to internal viewfinder mode? Many cameras have this feature (mine does) for people who like the old fashioned method of looking through the little viewfinder rather than using the screen on the back - saves battery too. Look for a button with a symbol that looks like a box with a vertical line on the left and right of it. press it and the screen should come back.
Hope this helps.

How do i turn the flash off

Welcome to FixYa.

The FORCED OFF mode is the setting where flash is not activated in any recording condition. this mode used when taking pictures in places where the use of the flash is not permitted.

There are other 5 different mode/setting in using photo flash.

1. AUTO - flash automatically activated according to the recording condition.

2. AUTO/Red-eye reduction - flash is automatically activated according to the recording condition. It reduces the red-eye phenomenon by triggering the flash before actually recording the picture. After that, the flash is activated for actual recording again.

3. FORCED ON - use the when your subject is back-lit or under fluorescent light.

4. FORCED ON/Red-eye reduction - use this when you set the camera to PARTY MODE

5. Slow sync./Red-eye reduction - use this when you take pictures of people in front of a dark background.

I hope this solution will help you. Just send us you comments or suggestion if this solution was helpful.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Panasonic lumix DMC-ZS1 - won't record video

It might be telling you that the card you have in the camera isn't fast enough to keep up with the demands of a video recording. You need to buy a more expensive card with a faster speed rating.

I have a Panasonic NV-GS75 and have recorded on it. On trying to play back it has black lines across the view and is stilted. What do I do to rectify this?

You would need to use the head cleaning tape which came with the camcorder to fix this. The heads are dirty however if they were dirty during recording, try playing back another recording and if it works, the tape might be dirty. i wouldn't recommend using that tape.

Red flashing eye

The flashing eye indicates that the red eye minimizer feature is enabled. My NV 10 has buttons on the back that line up with features on the screen. Try to find the one that looks like an eye. That option is often times tied to the flash feature. The flash may be able to be turned on with the same button.
