Question about Brother MFC-8860DN Printer

1 Answer

My MFC 8860DN does not scan or copy but instead says please wait

I had a paper jam in the top copy feeder and we removed the jam and the lcd has been saying "please wait" and won't let me copy or scan anything or even push the button to change to those tasks. It shows not error code and have unpluged it and still no luck is there any special reboot code that may take this sign away?

Turn the machine off and hold menu while turning it on and keep holding it while the machine starts up. This should go into maint mode.

When it gets into maint mode you can try 99 to exit. This is like a soft reset. Hard reset is hitting 01 in maint mode and then 99 to exit.

Let me know if this is helpful.

I have a brother MFC 9840cdf I would like to print the back side of post cards that I already have... how can I do this?

If your printer have a Document Automatic Feeder on the top and have a duplex printing, then you can print on both side of the printer.

If not, try to do it manual by copying the front side and then reinsert the copy again to the paper tray facing down with the letter head in outward position.

try resetting the machine by unplugging it for an hour, and then start it back up. Next go to the menu, and reconfigure your fax settings.

Paper Jam whilst doing a multi page scan

The rollers that pull the paper through could need a cleaning. With general usage these parts do get worn down. By having your printer cleaned by certified technician it would resolve this problem.

I have a BROTHER MFC- 8860DN that makes black streaks on copies

If this is only happening with copies and not straight prints, it is possible that the problem is with the scanning unit. Use the soft cloth to clean the scanner area to the left side of the machine where pages are scanned when run through the page feeder. A spec of dust or other debris in this area will appear as a streak along the length of the page.

If it occurs on all prints, You may need to replace the drum or clean the fuser unit.

Brother printer mfc-8860dn

This usually means that it isn't picking up paper at all. Draw and x on the top paper and see if it takes it. You may need a new feed tire or different paper.
