Blue spots on a hitachi 50vg825

I have a hitachi 50vg825. Over the last month and a half there are blue spots developing in the upper left hand corner of the screen. These spots have now also spread to the bottom and middle of the screen. The longer the set is on the more noticable these spots are. Please help.

I also have this blue spot problem and I have been informed it sounds like the light engine. Unfortunatly this is expensive, or so I've been told. Waiting on my warranty to see whats next. I also experience black bars on white background eg: watching hockey the ice has black bars going from the right edge towards the center of the screen. This happens the whole length of the side panel. I have gone through 4 lamps in less than 3 years, how many for you?

You will need a new optic block assembley. This has been a common problem found in all brands of LCD projection type television sets.

Cause for this is fine dust and particles gets "cooked" onto special lenses and even on individual lcd panels. I haven't found a way to clean each optic peices back to original. I usually find the colored filters in most of them had changed to a brownish, hence blocking that color from getting through, leaving a pink, or bluish spot like hue, or even in some cases a starfeild like patern.

Only thing can be done is to search the Internet for a new or refurbished optic block assembly to your make and model.

In the shop I work for, I've seen literally hundreds of these sets, all brand who makes LCD projections, develop this kind of problem. I've exchanged optic blocks on everyone I've gotten since 2001 - 2002 and so far never seen one comming back with same problem twice.

If you are good with following instructions, then it maybe cheaper for you to purchase a service manual with all the parts blow up, access to "Service Man Mode" with all adjustment codes, then purchasing a new or rebuilt optic block assembly... (Some manufacturers will send you a different optic block assembly of wich you must enter the Service Man Mode (SSM), for making proper adjustments per advice from their techs).

Changing one can be a real chore, so it maybe in your favor to higher a competent tech who can do the job right at a good price. If you can't find a personal tech, then shop will be next in line, however it maybe a little expensive.

I just replaced bulb with new and after a day there is a dark spot on the screen

I have the same TV - I have a dark spot in the upper left hand corner. I have always thought this TV was dark. Be sure to get OME lamp. Cheaper ones are not worth it and can damage your TV more.
dlplampsource,com--Just a note if this ever happens to you. TV would not come on in the AM-Had no picture, but had sound. It was not the lamp, but the safety switch. It's blue and at the bottom of the lamp housing. As soon as I flipped it and replaced the back cover, the TV came on.

Blank Blue square on left hand corner of the screen ??

It might not be the same issue, but we had a blue square in the upper left hand corner of our hanspree. To fix it, either press the button headed 'pip' or go into menu, down to calibration and then uncheck the box titled 'pip' there. I hope this sorta yours as it did ours.

I had the same problem w/ the same TV about 6 months ago. You need a new optical engine. Hopefully you are still under warranty. Once that was replaced, the tv looks great.

Blue snowy pixel areas on my plasma

some of these panels were mis-calibrated from the factory after not aging long enough. Let the TV run for atleast 2 hours and adjust the Vs and Vscan voltages. When it is blue in the left I have found generally the Vs is about 10 volts too high.
