The same thing is happening to me. How do I stop the cleaning cycle to cut it off?

I had the same problem when self cleaning my GE TrueTemp oven: it overheats, won't shut off and flashes F2

  • tom_in_md Feb 27, 2009

in looking around, F2 is the GE code for "oven too hot". this code is set by a resistor and not by the true temperature of the oven.

that siad, i am not too sure how it gets fixed. my oven is doing the same thing.

  • Anonymous Mar 09, 2009

I had been using the broiler, and then shut the oven off, then it started beeping, with the display saying F2. I opened the door and after awhile it stopped. I had been broiling a steak and it caught on fire prior to that. I wasn't able to grab the steak out of the oven because I was on the phone and couldn't get the other person to stop talking. I figured the oven over heated from the flames; hopefully isn't damaged. I'll see if it works tomorrow. I haven't had any problems with this GE range/oven in the 8 years that I've had it.

This happens every time I clean my oven. It overheats, shows the f2 light and BEEPS loudly. The only way to stop it is to turn the oven off at the breaker box, wait until it cools (usually 2-3 hours), flip the breaker back on and start the process all over again until the unit is clean. If it's not to dirty, sometimes it's easier to juat use Easy Off.
hope it helped

F2 appeared on the screen during self-cleaning

F2-During BAKE
Control senses oven temperature above 615F-630F
If actual over temperature condition occurred: Look for welded relay contacts on bake or broil relays. If this happens, replace oven control (also called clock or ERC).

If no over temperature condition occurred: Look for a high resistance connection or any other cause of high resistance in the oven temperature sensor circuit. Check sensor, sensor harness and sensor harness connection at sensor and oven control. Replace sensor if found defective.

Remember: Oven control (ERC) measures resistance of sensor circuit , not actual oven temperature.

F2-During CLEAN
Control senses oven temperature above 915F-930F
If actual over temperature condition occurred: Look for welded relay contacts.

Check door lock switches.

Whilrpool Self Cleaning Range Door won't unlock

try this 1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds.
Momentarily (less than 5 sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code
display.
2. Press and hold any key for 1 minute until F2 E0 code is displayed.
3. Cancel F2 E0 error code.
4. Program and start the clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not,
inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to
find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the
start of clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Steps 1 through 3 will
have to be repeated before another clean can be started.
5. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected,
program and start a clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code)
to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock
