You need to specify your laptop brand and model... Sigmatel drivers are made for each laptop, there are no generic versions available.

Here is a link to the latest drivers. You will need to sign in and then download the files.

http://www.download-provider.com/search/sigmatel+high+definition+audio+codec+driver.html?aff.id=1091&aff.subid=1000

I would open Device Manager and delete the current device and then restart the PC. When it starts and detects the new hardware, cancel the installation. Run the setup file that was downloaded. When the installation has completed, restart the PC again and test the sound.

Good luck!

Only one problem with this is that I write when passed over the link

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Can someone please tell me what the correct Audio Driver ?

Click: Start
Click: All programs.
Click either "Windows Update" or "Microsoft Update".
Click "custom" (not "express").
After a while, does it show 'Hardware Updates(0)' or a non-zero number?
If so, then click "Hardware Updates", and download/install the latest drivers for your hardware.

try one of these sites.. you may have to download a system scan, i.e--driver detective, etc. but it will get you the updated drivers.

I have no sound in my PC

BrendanG21, I had the same problem this morning. My sound actually quit in the middle of listening to music. Simply restart your computer (it may take a couple tries). If it's saying you have no audio device installed, but everything looks normal when you go into device manager, it's probably the same problem and this should work.

Running Windows XP
Dell B130 laptop
Sound devices listed under my device manager:
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
Video Codecs

NO sOuNd

try this steps
When installing Sigmatel* or Realtek* audio drivers (either from the Express Installer CD or using the latest driver download available from the web), the installation may fail with either of the following error messages:
· Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again.
· The system does not support the driver you are attempting to install.
The Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver for Windows* may be corrupted or causing problems with the audio driver installation.

To resolve this, try the following:

1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
2. Look for the following two items: Realtek* High Definition Audio Driver and High Definition Audio driver Package - KB888111.
3. If these items are listed in Add/Remove programs, remove them.
4. Restart Windows.
5. Download the latest audio driver for your desktop board from Download Center.
6. Double-click the filename to extract the files.
7. Go to the folder where the files have been extracted and browse to the \HDAQFE\xpsp2\us\ folder or the \MSHDQFE\Win2K_XP\us\ folder. (The name of this folder depends on your desktop board model.)
8. Double-click the file kb888111xpsp2.exe to install the High Definition Audio Driver Package.
9. Restart Windows.
10. Install the audio driver.
