SOURCE: black soot in dryer
it sounds like something might have ignited in the dryer, something small. you need to remove the front of the dryer and then the front bulkhead. This will expose the motor, you will be able to see the impeller blades and clean anything stuck in there. I would reove the motor so i could clean out the exhaust tube. Look over by the burner area to see if any burnt material is there that needs to be cleaned. That should do it

i would start by checking the power to the dryer there should be 110 volts ac from common to L1 and 110 volts ac from common to L2 and 220 from L1 to L2. If you are not familiar with either AC current or a volt meter call a tech. if that is good there is often a high temp safty thermostat some where on the unit. if it doesnt read continuity on your ohm meter than replace the safty thermistat. how ever there is usualy anohter underlying issue. check your venting and make sure it is clear. that is the most common reason for a safty thermo to fail. hope this helps

Check spring tab behind door switch-if it's bent/out of adjustment, circuit will act like door is always open.
To confirm this, open door, set dryer to active setting, and hold in door switch; if it comes on, then it's either the spring tab, or the switch is malfunctioning

I do not have that specific dryer but try these simple steps.
Maybe they will help you.
1. Shut the electric breaker off to the dryer for about 30 seconds and and back on.
2. Open the dryer door and inspect the switch that tells the dryer the door is closed. work it by hand just to make sure it is not stuck.
3. Spin the timer controls to another setting and see if the other setting will work.
That's all I've got for now...

Remove the two screws holding the lint filter in. Then slip a putty knife in the top edge and pry up and the top will lift up. You may have to take out a couple screws on the control panel too, not sure
