Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop

Laptop screen flickers

I just add two gb of crucial memory to my laptop, and every now and then it it flickers for about a second or two . it does this about 2 hours or more after i have been on the computer. it just started after i add the two gb of memory. i took back to the place where i had them install the memory and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it . they say it is my electric in my house that is doing this. but my other computers are not doing this, they are desktop computers. i think one of the merory chips are bad.

It is possible that a memory module within a stick of RAM could be bad, however, I'd suggest re-seating the RAM sticks and try again. Re-seating the RAM is as simple as:

  1. Unplug the laptop from the AC Adapter, if connected.
  2. Shut down the computer
  3. Remove the battery
  4. Find where the ram is (either under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop [if it's an HP or Dell, it's on the bottom; if it's a Toshiba, Acer or a smaller-type of brand, it's typically under the keyboard])
  5. Slide the RAM-seating pin/brace over which will allow you to pull the RAM out.
  6. Ensure that the RAM's connection (the part that goes into the RAM socket) is clean and looks good.
  7. Gently push the ram into the slot and push it down for the brackets to snap over the edges of the RAM.

Hope this help!

if you have an open slot it may work sometimes memory will not work with other memory of different bus speed. if the memory itself was meant to work in pairs it may not work as well. try it no harm can come of it. goodluck

How do I get more ram memory

this should fix your problem. order the 4 gb kit and install. if you are running 32 bit version of windwos your laptop will only recognize 3 gb so i suggest upgrading to 64 bit. 4 gb memory is the max for your laptop. the folowing is a link to the memory for your laptop.

Acer laptop 2310 series, 5yrs old 40 GB HDD; 256 MB DDR.Windows XP. Can i add more memory & if so how much?

Yes you can. You can increase the memory up to 1GB. If you are going to keep the memory inside then you should buy a 512 MB memory card, making your computer run on 768 MB of memory. If not then replace it with a 1 GB memory card. Remember, this computer can only support a maximum of 1GB total memory. The price depends on the memory module. The higher it is, the higher the price will be. Go to your local computer store for the price.

Per Crucial.com this system doesn't support 2 - 1 GB memory modules. (I've never been given incorrect information from the Crucial advisor)

1 GB RAM (Pair of 512Mb Modules) is the maximum

YES THE FREQUENCY OF BOTH RAMS DO NOT MATCH ... THATS BOOTING WITH EACH BUT ONLY ONE BY ONE ... YOU NEED RAMS OF SAME FREQUENCY AND SYSTEM WILL SUPPORT BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER ...
