It depends ont wo things how big of a load are your drying. And is the idler pulley ok? If you are overloading the unit yes you will wear the belt in no time flat. But when your belt was replace the first time did the tech take a look at the idler pulley?, if that's worn it will also take out the belt in no time flat. all i can recommend is contact your service provider tell them your issue and hope they can maybe run a recall or get you a new belt under a part warrenty. good luck

Won't Spin Drum

The problem could be a list of things . Let's start checking the belt , it coul be that the belt is broken or something is keeping it from doing its job ( a piece of clothing coul be stuck) due to the burned rubber smell you detected. It coul also be the electrical door switch and After checking the three first steps then comes the motor part lets hope is not . Good luck

Had a service call 7 months ago on 16 year old Maytag Stack w/d to lubricate drum roller that was squeaking. Squeak has returned. Any pointers on lubricating it myself, or is it worth replacing the drum...

Lubricating the bearings is usually only a temporary "quike fix".

Replace the bearings, and lubricate the bearing shafts with a lithium grease.

Dryer is scraping as it turns. Is there a belt that is worn? Started doing it after 3rd load. Did the same last time we used it.

The dryer drum is suspended between the front panel and the back panel by extrusions that protrude into the front and rear of the drum. There are thick felt pads attached to the protrusions that support the drum and isolate the metal of the drum from the metal of the front and rear panel protrusions, allowing the drum to rotate freely. A large belt encircles the drum and a pulley attached to a motor mounted under the drum. A spring "thing" applies tension to the belt to prevent the belt from slipping. If the noise is a metal on metal sound, check the condition of the felts. Other causes of noise have been stretched belt slipping on drum, weak spring "thing" not keeping belt tight, motor bearings dry (oil) or worn (replace motor), and pulley on spring "thing needs lube (lube). Hope this helps.

Maytag Electric Dryer - replace belt

The belt needs to be above the metal. Otherwise the repair looks good. Easy fix. Thanks for the pic.
