Question about Gateway MX7118 Notebook
I'm on AT&T DSL. I had to replace the modem/router with a NETGEAR DNG2000. It works great on my desktop but I want to use WIFI with my Gateway laptop. I can connect and browse but I cannot get into my AOL mail. AOL is my homepage and I can get there but I cannot get into mail. It says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
- You are not connected to the Internet - but I am connected
- The website is encountering problems. - but it is available on the desktop
- There might be a typing error in the address - not there isn't.
What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems"
When I did this it says
"Windows did not detect any problems with your Internet connection over HTTP and HTTPS but was not able to make a successful connection over FTP/ The most likely cause of this problem is that a firewall client running on your machine is blocking the necessary FTP ports.
Ifyou are trying to use FTP, please contact the manufacturer of your pc for assistance."
I turned my firewall off and still was not able to get into mail.
There is a firewall inside of your router it is possible that you router is blocking the connection... try going to its webpage and looking for the firewall or de-materialized zone setting.. and allow it to be exposed.. then turn the firewall on ur pc back on...
