Hi , the schematic is way too large , i see the pcm , i can't distinguish 4 connectors , the only clue i think i can give you is the color dark green and brown , if you look at the last set of wire colors i think you will have to find them in one of the four connectors and you will have it , i only show one of each color at the pcm , heres 2 more pix , im showing were each wire ends up . like i say this is over my head with the navigation hook up , but i hope you comprehend the pix .

im trying to show in relation to each end of those 3 wires , the begining and the end of each wire with no interuptions or splices in the middle of any of them . hope thats good for ya , cheers .

Unhooked the harness in order to install an FM modulator. Now, after plugging back in, I get no power on. Any ideas?

Have you tried resetting the unit? Here is a link to Sony for your CDX-4000X operating instructions. Reference page 6 for the reset proceedure.

Could radio wiring be causing my truck instrument panel to fail?

That wire is probably data. What you may have to do is get a radio-relocation harness, contact your local car audio shop. The company is Metra out of Florida. You will need to get this harness, possible p/n 70-6512. That way your OE radio data bus remains connected. I have this harness in my inventory, but I am in Edmonton, Canada..

no - the harness is $17 or less.
Even Metra makes one (pictired above)
In my shop I charge $17 for the metra plug.
eBay it.
Metra part# AL16-0001 or al2x8-0001
CLICK HERE for an eBay auction for an original ALPINE plug. $30

Need pinout for Alpine CDA-7940 head unit

facing the back of the 7940 the top left corner is pin 16 the top right corner is pin 9. The bottom left is pin 8 and the bottom right is pin 1. Only a few of the 16 pins are used due to this unit only having pre-outs, no internal amplifier on this unit. Pin 1 red (ignition), Pin 2 pink/black (interrupt), Pin 3 orange (Illumination), Pin 8 black (ground), Pin 9 blue (power antenna), Pin 10 blue/white (remote turn on), Pin 16 yellow (battery).

Need a Nak CD-45Z wiring harness, or diagram

Rob, I had the exact same problem, I kept searching on line and came upon Alex in Australia, he deals in Nakamichi products, and has the part (plug/wiring harness). He charges $55 for the part and $30 for express shipping.

Here's his email: aminassian@optusnet.com.au

I have also found a site with the Manual: http://www.nakremotes.com/default.htm
Click on "Model List" and look for your model, in the manual there's the wire color code for the pinout. I also have the pinout by wire color, no room to include, will send in another response.

[ 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 ] Naka CD45-Z deck
Note: The above diagram is done from the perspective of looking directly on to the connector pins. If you are having trouble figuring out which way is which, just use the ground wire, which is always black, as a reference for making sure you are doing the pins correctly.
