Question about Car Audio & Video

Sub Selectroin Right now i have 2 Memphis 12s with a 1200 watt amp. I also have a Memphis 500d amp, and am looking for some good subs for it. The 12s don't hit the highs very well, and i need to know what a good high hitting sub is.

scottie: still need more info. telling me the price paid means nothing. memphis has a large line of speakers. also a sub-woofer box mounted in the back won't deliver clean highs, it's not suppose to. you need additional speakers in system for that purpose. subs are meant to play freqs of 120 hertz & lower depending upon design.

    peace-out

    peace-out

Try to find a the specs for a box for those subs. A box has a great deal to do with highs, mids and lows.

Your amp went in to power protect. You must adjust the settings on amp. This is usually very time consuming to get it right. Good Luck

Getting my son a sony xplod xm-1652 2 channel what subs would sound good and the things says 1000x2 and 500x2 what is the truth

165 watts x 2 @ 4ohms and 200-230 watts@ 2 ohms or 400-460 watts bridged into a 4 ohm mono load is what the amp will actually do. A single 12 inch sub or a pair of 10 inch subs or 12s would be great

How i wire my sub to my jbl gto301-1iiamp with 2 Hifonics HFi12D4

If the amp is 1200 watts at 2 ohm stable you will want to set up the speakers as parrallel and bridge the amp. That means conncect the speakers with + to + and - to -. Look at the amp connections. Usually thereare connects that look like this:
+ -
+ - + -

If yours look like this use the diagram on top. You will use the + for the left ouput on the amp to the right - on the amp. This will allow you to use all the power from the amp. Be sure to lower the gain as to not pop the speakers or amp.

Hi mate very nice amp you got there here is the specs for it

Model: MA Audio HK401SX

1 x 1800W RMS @ 0.5 Ohm Mono
1 x 1200W RMS @ 1 Ohm Mono

1 x 500W RMS @ 4 Ohm Mono
Fully Unregulated MOSFET Power Supply
2 Ohm Stable @ Mono

if you have 2 12s just bridge them and you will have 650wrms at 2ohm running to them or one sub at 4 ohm 500w rms ps they should pump iam running 2 12s with just 360rms at 2ohm and they do the job good luck

Is it enough to power to 12 volge=ahagen 12oowatss dual 4 ohms

your Volfenhag 12" subs are rated at 1200 watts they are only 600 watts rms and the Rockford punch p4004 is only 200 watts rms so the answer is yes it will work but if you get a amplifier that pushes out 500 - 600 watts rms you will love the sound from subs
there is nothing wrong with the Rockford amp it just wont pound out the bass as hard but the good news is you will never blow the subs with it
when buying amps or subs make sure to look at rms rating that is the true power they actually have ie. (sub box says 1200 watt you think powerful but if you divide it in 1/2 you actually get 600 watts rms) don't get me wrong that's a nice rating. for a sub but you will want to match that number with the amps rms rating or lower. The RMS is what makes the car pound the higher the RMS the better
hope this helps

High distortion

The head unit may be rated at 200 watts but it cannot produce more than ~20 watts of real power per channel. There's no way that it can drive the high end speakers to a level that will be needed to compete with the subs on a 1000 watt amplifier.
