Spark plus Hi i just bought a ford escort zx2 2000 and i went to AZ to buy all that i need for the tun up that include the spark plugs. when i take out the old spark plugs i notice taht the saprk plug that i bought the treat is larger than the spark plug that i take out so i went to another place to buy another ones but they give me the same size, so just for this time i take a sample and bought the same as the sample, how i know which spark plug is the right one. thanks FN

Sometimes different brands have more or less thread than others. The ones that are like the ones you took out should be fine. just take the others back to AZ.

    Your engine is a 2.0, 130 horse power. There are 2 different engines in this year escort, both are 2.0. One is a dual cam, the other a single cam. The singe cam has a rounded valve cover over it. The dual cam is square and has spark plugs in the center of the valve cover.

You may have a differnt motor to the standard for your model the spark plugs that fit should be the right ones

2000 ford escort zx2 wont start

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

I'm surprised you didn't get an error code, mainly on the spark plug wires. I would try those, they can cause a bunch of trouble, including rough idle, rich burning, everytime my Grand Marquis acted up, it was the spark plug wires. Of course it was also the only thing not covered in the warranty. Check it out.

I jsut bought this 93 ford escort lx station wagon
If this is a manual transmission the clutch has burned out, it may need to be replaced, if you do not do your own mechanic work I would suggest that you take it to a good local repair shop and have them check it out. If this is an automatic I would still suggest the same, but the actual problem could be more complex. Hope this helps, let me know.

Replace the Spark Plug wires, they burn through and short to the valve cover/cylinder head causing a miss under load, very common concern with this Mazda engine that was used in your Escort GT. Buy the best wire set you can find, or the problem will re-occur very quickly. Auto-lite makes a good set at a good price, avail at most chain parts stores like Kragen, Auto Zone etc.
