Norcent Technologies LM173SB 17 in. Flat Panel LCD Monitor Won't work with Windows 7

I ran into this very problem myself, the issue is that the monitor only supports 1280x1024 resolution MAX. Windows 7 cannot detect this monitor and so it does not know it is limited to this resolution, so Windows 7 is putting out a higher resolution at startup, thus the monitor tries to autodect for a second but then just goes blank because it doesn't understand (and can't display) the signal. The only solution is to use another monitor and adjust the resolution to 1280x1024 or lower, but I run into a problem where as soon as you remove the other monitor and restart, WIndows tries to "plug & play" the monitor all over again at startup. So you're best bet really is a newer monitor unfortunately, I only use my old Norcent monitor with my XP computer.

Hi

It is not th emonitor that is locked it is your PC, if you do not know the password the easiest thing to do would be to restart it

This is done by pressing and holding in the power button on your PC until the PC/Laptop shuts down and then restarting!!!

1.download the software from
http://www.password-genius.com/how-to/how-to-get-in-my-computer-when-i-forget-my-windows-login-password.html
2. burn it to a CD.
3. pop the CD into your locked PC, and boot from the CD. you can login windows and reset your password.
the whole process took only a few minutes.

I have a blinking padlock in the middle of my monitor screen. What's wrong?

I'm not sure of the exact cause of this issue but I've heard of similar problems being caused by your desktop resolution being out of sync with the resolution of your monitor.

I've read elsewhere that the problem has been fixed by Right clicking on your desktop, going to Properties & adjusting your screen resolution to something different, clicking apply...then adjusting it back to whatever you'd like.

Failing that, I'd suggest giving Dell customer support a call. They have access to a lot more diagnostic material including button combinations that may clear the error out.

You can log a ticket online with them, or call them directly. The number can be found on www.dell.com

Black screen on my LG Flatron lcd 563le

I solved the problem myself by disconnecting the monitor from the computer and then I unplugged the computer. I restarted the computer in position fail safe (F8) and tried to change the monitors resolution back to origin, failed to do so and rebooted instead. When Windows loaded up the problem was gone! Yipeyiiiii!

If the refresh rate is not properly set the monitor may have a wavy or an appearance that lines are going down ... This may also cause a flickering affect.
Distorted or skewed image on monitor. Issue: Distorted or skewed image on monitor.
Cause: This issue can occur from any of the below possibilities.
  1. Windows issue.
  2. Loose or defective cable.
  3. Refresh rate issue
  4. Interference.
  5. Bad monitor.
Solution: Windows Issue If your monitor has a proper display until it gets into Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows ME, or Windows XP please see document CH000121 for software or setting related issues.
Loose or defective cable You may receive a distorted image when the cable is loose or defective. Disconnect the video cable going from the back of the computer and verify that no pins are bent, burnt or broken. Once verified re-connect the monitor cable.
Refresh rate issue If the refresh rate is not properly set the monitor may have a wavy or an appearance that lines are going down or across the monitor slowly or fast. This may also cause a flickering affect. Additional information about how to change the refresh rate can be found on document CH000558.
Interference A distorted image can be caused by magnetic or other types of interference. Verify no speakers, fans or other magnetic devices are close to the monitor.
Bad Monitor If the above possibilities have been checked it is likely that the monitor is bad. To verify this it is recommended that the monitor be temporarily disconnected and then connected to another computer. This can be a friends computer, a work computer, and/or a computer at a service center. You can also help verify a defective monitor by connecting another monitor to your computer. Note: Connecting your possibly defective monitor to another computer will in no way harm the other computer.
