Electric dryers run on 220 volt, it is usually a double breaker at your main panel, however, depending on the electrician and how old the wiring is you might have two breakers, so start there first. If not, there are several parts to this dryer. It could be an element, a thermal fuse, high limit thermostat, or as simple as a burnt wire. Most important please turn off power before working on this.

The other thing that most people forget to check is the outlet pipe or vent pipe. If they get blocked, when the heat turns on, and it is blocked, the dryer will detect it and immediately turn off the heat but the drum will still turn. Bed Bath and Beyond has a dryer vent clean out kit that hooks to a shop vac.

The heating element connects to a thermal fuse and then to a thermostat. The thermal fuse may be blown. There is no outward sign of failure http://www.appliancepartspros.com/01-blower-heater-parts-for-maytag-mde9700ayw.html

I gotta assume you're joking since it looks like you're asking why the dryer isn't working when you've turned all the power off in your house.

If this is the case then the only way your dryer is going to function is if you bought it with the optional Maytag Cold Fusion power supply. Or you could turn the power back on...

Maytag dryer model 6000AYW overheats

Probably due to a bad blower wheel. The wheels on these are made of plastic. Over time the wobble out and don't blow enough air.

Dryer won't heat maytag neptune mde 5500 ayw

Hi

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

Hope this helps...

MDET 235 AYW Maytag Electric dryer turns on but will not heat up. Also the timer does not shut off.

Hi,
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)
Thank you!

No Exhaust? Very Damp-not dry clothes

i would check for further blockage. also check the blower fan to make sure it is blowing properly. sometimes the blower fan can wear on the motor shaft and slip, thus reducing the air flow considerably. sometimes i have found the blockage just at the point of the blower fan.
good luck; jay

No heat

probably just the heating element. If that isn't it, you might have a bad moister sensor. It tells the dryer to stop heating once the clothes are dry. My first suggestion is to check the heating element, they go out all the time. Usually there is just a tall narrow cover of them, so you can check them without disassembling the whole back of the dryer. Goodluck
