Sorry which icon? I'm running windows vista, so the set up your talking about might be Windows XP. If not could you please give more specific directions?

Use your other pc ..when connected click on the icon in task bar and select properties...in properties open internet protocol(may have to scroll to it) and check details and write them down.
if its set to obtain ip and dns auto then cancel properties.in the network status box which should still be open click on support.
here youll find ip and dns details..write them down..
boot other pc and once up and running open network connections in control panel.click on wireless icon and select from list(to your left) change settings for this connection.in the properties page scroll to internet protocol and insert the detail ip ...subnet ...default gateway and dns server.(the dns is the same digits as gateway)
you should now be able to connect no prob.

    ok so your in vista..

use the pc that connects first of all ....

in the bottom right hand side of screen youll see a tiny icon letting you know your connected.

you could also access in control panel.(network connections)

you can also use xp type viewing If you like.

I personally dont like vista ...too pushy.gfraphics are brilliant but when it comes to installing specific software its a nightmare.

anyway all you need to do is access your wlan properties...(internet connection)

then write down and transfer details(details in internet protocol)..

all is described above of how to .

cant remember if you said you have wireless router or not(probably not cos if you did it would connect no prob).

look when this type of problem occurs, the first suspicion is the ISP in fact. And i wouldnt put it past them to snoop on people like this.

HP Pavilion dv9913cl Entertainment Notebook PC I want to know if this unit is able to be used on 220V power with just an adapter versus needing a transformer.

Check the power adapter, if it says 100~230V INPUT, it's fine to connect to 220V. If says just 90~120V, it cannot be connected to 220V.

My p.c. keeps blocking my internet access by saying something about a Proxy. Even though it says my internet access is working.

You may have malware changing your settings. Open a browser window and look to the right side, click on the button marked "Tools", scroll down to "Internet Options" and click on that. When the window appears click on the "Connections" tab. Look to the bottom and click on the LAN Settings. Make sure that only the top box is checked and all others are UN-Checked. Click apply and ok. Now refresh the browser window and it should connect. I would suggest a malware scan quickly.

It sounds like a power supply problem (low voltage), or could be a battery going bad. Also, the vents to the cpu fan could be clogged up and overheating the cpu, causing it to shut down. You can spray the vents and area out with compressed air. Other than that, it will have to be serviced.
Good luck and hope this helps.
