I have already tried this. I am sorry but I have been working on this for a long time and cant find anything to work. Here is something else funny. When I hook up the router, my sons ipod touch gets a connection but the desktop and the laptop do not.

You say your internet works fine without the router. Are you connecting wired direct to a modem? And with the router, are you connecting wired or wireless?

Try this:

Connect the modem to the router, and the router to the computer.

Pull the power cord out of the Modem.

Pull the power cord out of the Router.

Wait 10 seconds.

Plug in the modem, and wait untill all the lights go steady (ususally a minute or two)

Plug in the router.

Check your connection. Ask for more help if this doesn't work.

Do you have a software firewall on your computer(s)?

Have you gone into the router settings yet?

On a computer connected directly to the router, open an internet browser. Type these numbers into the address bar:

    192.168.1.1

This will open the Linksys setup page. Leave the user name field blank, and type in "admin" for the password. Come back here and let me know what's happening next.

You should get output somewhat like: Default Gateway .... 192.168.123.456

If you have that connection, you should be able to upload new firmware from your computer to the router.

Wireless router

The problem is the Linksys wireless router is not properly configured. Try downloading the automatic configuration file which can be accessed from the Linksys site for your specific model wireless router.

Hope this helps you.

Linksys router

unplug your DSL modem. Wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.

Make sure the router is connected to a DSL modem. Lately I have seen DSL modems connected to offices that are really routers. If thats the case it may not be talking because the DSL is address the gateway with the same address as the router.

The best way to test this is to see what happens when you disconnect your linksys router and type in http://192.168.0.1
in internet explorer.

If the DSL modem screen appears, it's configured as a router.

Then you will have to take the linksys router and turn it into a switch with a wireless access point. I

Telephone connection

Unless you have dial up, you arent supposed to be losing any connection between the two. If you are, i would call them up and have them come out to fix it for free. That is completely rediculous.
