HP Director not present after installa of Officejet 7210 drivers

Please help! I have spent 4 hours with HP over the past 3 days and many hours on my own - with no positive outcocme.

It was necessary for me to reload the Officejet 7210 drivers. AFter installation 1) HP Director is not present from the start\programs. There is only HP. when I choose HP, several options appear none of which are the HP Director 2) At the end of the installation, I see the congratulations screen which does have the HP Director button. When that button is clicked nothing happens.

I have Windows XP, and IE 6.0. The printer is connected via wired network at my home. I can a)print a document on the printer
b) scan to a file if I use the buttons on the printer c)confirm bidirectional communication between laptop and printer by typing in the printer's address in IE 6.0. This tells me that the issue is not a hardware issue even though HP tried to get me to trade up to a new printer for $300.

I attempted to use the IE7 download fix but becasue nothing else worked. Was not able to install that fix.

Tried the following at HP's suggestion
Uninstall the drivers from Add\Remove in the control panel
Used Util\CCC\Uninstall_L3.bat to perform a level three uninstall
REmoved all temporary files
Installed Windows Installer 4.5
Installed MSXML 4.0
REinstalled the Full Package of 7210 drivers. I made certain that the Symantec firewall was off during installation

The HP Image zone Express program remains in the add/remove section even after pressing the remove button and performing the level 3 uninstall.

Try this: Open HP Director either from your Desktop or from the Windows taskbar. Although HP Director does not appear to be open, it is open and loaded in the computers memory, but it does not open in a window. Press ALT and Space Bar at the same time. The shortcut menu displays near the top-left corner of the computer. If shortcut menu does not appear repeat steps to open until it does. Select Minimize from the Shortcut menu. HP Director displays minimized on the taskbar. Click HP Director Icon on taskbar and it will open normally. There is no fix for this according to HP. Also, as you know HP released an update for IE7 to resolve this issue.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a couple of ideas to consider, explore and/or try:

  • uninstall the HP drivers, reboot, temporarily disable any and all antivirus, anti malware (such as AdAware), (not only firewall) reboot, re-install fresh/clean the HP drivers;
  • install in Safe Mode;
  • install as a local printer, (directly connected to the PC), thereafter, changed the port setting form LPT1/USB to TCP/IP.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

PRINT AN ENVELOPE 9 X 4 HP 7210 ALL IN ONE

Hi there, my name is Lisa and I'd be happy to help. I have checked the specifications for the Officejet 7210, and from what I can see, 9x4 envelope printing is not supported. Here are the 4 supported envelope sizes:

U.S. 10: 105 x 241 mm (4.125 x 9.5 inches)
A2: 111 x 146 mm (4.4 x 5.8 inches)
DL: 110 x 220 mm (4.3 x 8.7 inches)
C6: 114 x 162 mm (4.5 x 6.4 inches)

I hope this explains what the 9x4 isn't working.

Feel fee to take a look at the specifications using the following link:
Printer Specifications for HP Officejet 7200 All in One Printer Series

I hope this helps.
I work on behalf of HP.

How do I set time and date

1. Press Setup.
2. Press 4, and then press 1.
This selects Basic Fax Setup and then selects Date and Time.
3. Enter the month, day, and year by pressing the appropriate numbers on the keypad. Depending on your country/region setting, you might enter the date in a different order.
The underline cursor is presented initially beneath the first digit; it automatically advances to the next digit when you press a button. The time prompt automatically appears after you enter the last digit of the date.
4. Enter the hours and minutes.
If your time is displayed in the 12-hour format, the AM or PM prompt automatically appears after you enter the last digit.
5. If prompted, press 1 for AM, or 2 for PM.
The new date and time settings appear on the control panel display.

Officejet 7210 -downloaded software but do not have any icons, et

FROM THE HP WEBSITE:

If you’ve recently upgraded to the new Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), and you have a Hewlett Packard scanner or printer/scanner, then you will almost certainly be experiencing problems with starting it.
This affects almost every model of HP Printer (e.g. PSC 2510, PSC 2410, Officejet series) that uses the HP Director software. Hewlett Packard is working on a solution, which is due to an incompatibility with Javascript on the new IE7.
However, we have a workaround for you here! Just follow these very simple steps to get around the problem:
  • After double-clicking on the HP Director icon, nothing appears to happen... the program is starting normally, but it’s hiding.
  • Wait a few seconds, then hold down the ALT key and press the space bar. A small dialogue box will appear.
  • Click on Minimize (you may have to click twice)
  • Voila! the HP Director task will appear in the task bar at the bottom of the screen - click it, and the program will appear and work normally.
MY ADVICE IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM:
Don't install/uninstall IE7 and then use Firefox or some other web compliant browser instead.

HP Officejet 7100

Check the ink level present in the color cartridge and check whether you have enabled print in grayscale option in HP Director, please disable the option and try to print, if the issue persists replace the color cartridge.

Remove and Check Color Cartridge

Last night I spent an hour with HP Technician on-line trying to diagnose the problem with my 2 year old HP Officejet 7210 All-In-One. After trying everything HP came up to resolve the problem, the technician determined it is a hard failure in the electronics hardware. Since my warranty is expired they offered me a deal on the L7680 All-In-One. My 7210 was very lightly used (still on first set of cartridges). If this is the quality of the latest generation of HP hardware, I am probably going to look at something else.
