Fedders A7DH65B2A Dehumidifier

Dehumidifier (by 2 users)

posted by lcsw on Jun 03, 2007

I have a Maytag 65-pint dehumidifier, which is about 3 years old. It worked OK for a couple of years, but now doesn't take out the moisture. I left it on for a long time once and found that ice had developed on it. I know that being left on could cause a problem, but it also didn't seem to be working before that for several months.

It is in my cellar, which can be cool, but not cold.

Unfortunately, as I have been looking around online for info, I've found that alot of people with this model also complain of it quitting after 1 or 2 years. It has a 5-year warranty for parts and labor, but I'm not too hopeful about that, as alot of people have complained of getting the runaround from Maytag and Fedders when the units failed.

I really am NOT handy, but am hoping I can get the dehumidifier going because I don't have the resources to replace it. Help?

if it does not get cold anymore, then a freon charge is necessary, provided the compressor was not damaged from "left it on for a long time once and found that ice had developed on it. I know that being left on could cause a problem"
