Checked with different tv's and cables. not on HD mode. was working fine for a long time, just started doing this. at first if i turned it off and on or if i kept it on for a while i could get color back. now it's black and white all the time. please help!
Well, I have a couple of solutions that might work...
Check your AV cables, it's possible that they could be the main problem (or try purchasing/borrowing a new cable to test with)
Check your TV's settings, such as if it's NTSC or PAL (if the option exists) and it's colors.
If it's not the TV at all, then I'd say it's definitely #1 -- especially if it's a "Mad Katz" cable. Also, be sure that the AV cable is tight into the ports. One last suggestion would be to try a different TV. Hope this helps! Rob

Either the cable you are using is no good, or there is an issue with the internal video subsystem. Try changing cables, and if possible, try a different input on your display. If the issue still exists then you may have an internal issue. The only way to diagnose this is to have your local Xbox repair center diagnose it unless you have the tools and experience to do it yourself. Certain parts of the subsystem can be replaced, but for the most part the entire system is replaced.
this happens a lot. what happend is the red white and yellow wires that you put in the back of your tv. the red one is not in the right area or
there is a switch right were you plug in that cable with the red whit and yellow cables to your xbox that says hd or normal switch that to whatever your tv is
Check to make sure all your cable is plugged in all the way, and if you are using the HD cable, that it is switched appropriately (regular TV to "TV" and HDTV to "HDTV"). If all that is well, call Microsoft, your system is under warranty and they will RMA it.
where you put the cables for the sound and picture if you look on the end where you plug it into the xbox 360 you will see a little switch it has HD and TV on it depending on what your tv supports (HD ready TV) (normal TV) switch that switch to what TV you have (e.g. HD TV, switch the switch to HD) if that doesnt work then try checking that you have all the cables in the right ports if you have pluged the HD cables into a normal TV then this is not going to work, check cables and check the switch!
