Question about Acer PC Desktops

Acer travelmate 2480 does not turn on.

I have an acer travelmate 2480. I think the power input for the laptop itself broke. i plugged in the laptop and when I pulled the cord out, I noticed it had taken a small metal rod that i think is supposed to be inside the laptop. I want to know if i can replace that piece and if i can do it or will i have to take it somewhere

The metal rod is an internal part to the coaxial power coupling, which is normally soldered to the main board in the computer. Chances are you are going to be taking it in for repair. Good Luck!

As the little information you gave. Check for power button. Try cleaning or using a jumper pin where it connects. If start on contact, is the power button.

I need recovery cd download for acer aspire m1640

There aren't any restore disks because most Acer's have them built-into the hard drive.

Just press SHIFT + F10 when you start the computer.

That should put you into the Acer eRecovery Menu.

If that key combo doesn't work try:

F10
Alt + F10
Fn +F10
ctrl + F10

Let me know which one works, I always seem to forget.

Best of luck!

To set your Region back to 1:
  • Right click my computer, then properties.
  • click on hardware, then "Device Manager".
Here, click the plus sign next to "DVD/CD-ROM Drives"

If it asks you to restart, accept.

After restart, check that its still Region one by following the previous steps.

Make recovery discs for travelmate 5520

Hi,

There are two (2) versions of the Acer TravelMate 5520; TM5520-5313 (LX.TKU0Z.001) & TM5520-5678 (LX.TKU0Z.003).

There are two (2) possible ways you can get Recovery CDs:
1. Purchase from Acer here. You would need your 22 character Serial Number or the SNID which is 11 chars.;
2. Borrow from a friend with identical model, copy and burn to CD(s).

Alternately, you can install Windows Vista using an OEM CD (which again can be borrowed). You need to use the Windows key normally found in a sticker underneath the laptop. Thereafter, you need to download from the Acer website the appropriate drivers and install. You would need to select your Product Line, the Product itself and eventually the driver(s) that you need.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

try using avast from avast.com
its a really great any virus and free..
you should also use spybot search and destroy and super anti spyware..... these last two are also free..
if you dont find anything it should be an issue related to heating...
