Canon mv5i Previously working perfectly my MV5i will not power up/switch on when fitted with either a fully charged battery or external mains power. Sometimes when switching on the red power light flashes briefly but then goes out.

Good day..

the problem seems to be internal. i suggest that you let a reliable technician check your unit or better yet use your service warranty

I have a sony hdv 1080i camcorder. it works on mains power but will not work from a fully charged battery. Can anyone help suggest a solution?

Are these new batteries or old ones? If they are old it is possible that they will show as full but not have enough current to operate the device. If the batteries are over three years old or have been charged more that 300 times that is a distinct possibility. Also check the battery contacts on the device to make sure that they are not dirty. Clean with a pencil eraser.

When I connect the battery charger to the camcorder it doesnt even even show that I have the battery charger hooked up nor does it charge the camera. Could that be a problem with the camera or the charger?

I got hold of Canon support. I had the same problem. Got a new battery, fully charged and would not run the unit. Canon told me to do a system reset. pull out main battery and aux battery (bottom of unit) and to power switch to aux for 90 seconds. the put batteries back and it should work. Hope this helps.
