Enable Hibernation in Windows 7 Starter on Samsung N150

Sleep mode on a Windows 7 PC saves power without you having to turn your computer off and without losing any work. This option cuts the power to your monitor, powers down the hard drive and pauses all functions until you awaken the computer from hibernation. Whether you have a laptop, desktop or workstation, putting your computer into sleep mode will lower your electric bill and save money! Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop. In the lower right corner of the Start menu, next to the "Shut Down" button, is a button labeled with a small, right-pointing arrow. Mouse over the arrow. The Shut Down menu appears. Point at "Sleep" and click on this option. Your Windows 7 computer goes into sleep mode. Wake your computer from sleep mode by jiggling the mouse. There may be a delay of a few seconds before your hardware powers on. All of your open programs are still open and your work is intact, just as you left it before the computer entered sleep mode. Configure your Windows 7 PC to go into sleep mode automatically when it is not used for a certain amount of time. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." Click "System and Security." Click "Power Options." A menu opens. Click on "Choose when the computer sleeps" and select the number of minutes of inactivity. You can also set a separate time interval to put your monitor into sleep mode. If you set both to 10 minutes, then your PC and monitor will automatically go into sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity Your Computer in sleep mode b> First, save all of your work. Information in computer memory is not saved while your computer is on standby. From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel, then Power Management. Click Standby Beside When I Push the Power Button. Push the Power button. b> Automatically Putting Your Computer on Standby b> Save all work before leaving your computer. From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click Power Management. Keeps shutting down and takes several trys to start again only to shut down later

If the computer is overheating it will shut down to save the hardware from heat damage, the temp is pre set. It may get hot, due to air flow in a minute or and hour. What does the "screen comes up says problem " say? Check the fan and vents for dust and clean, improve air flow around bottom vents and side vents. Perhaps a Laptop Cooler? When the computer shuts down unepectedly, the computer see it as a crash and will load in that option screen. Run a 'Check Disk" on the OS drive buy opening computer in start menu, right click the drive with the OS (C), open properties, Tools, Check now, choose all options, follow instructions, reboot.

Format laptop lenovo y550

Note: Format would delete all of the data(like pictures, documents.) from the computer. Make sure, you back up all of your important data before formating the hard drive.
1. Insert operating system disk. 2. Shut down and restart the computer. As soon as, you restart the computer, start tapping 'Spacebar' key. Now, this would start loading from disk. 3.Hit F8 to accept the license agreement. 4.Hit enter 5. Enter Enter again and follow the on screen instruction and this would format your hard drive.
Note: once you format the hard drive, you would need to install drivers as well. Make sure you have the drivers and utilities disk as well.

Computer froze shut down by power button now will not start os lets me choose repair or start normally both tried just goes black screen then reboots over and over

Turn the computer on.
Press F8, repeatedly, until you see a start-up menu.
Choose "safe mode".

If it boots, open All Programs.
Open Accessories.
Open System Tools.
Open System Restore.
Select a date/time when your computer _was_ working correct, and go "back" to that checkpoint.

If that does not help, and it boots, use the Windows XP/Vista/7 "File and Settings Transfer Wizard" to create one file, holding all your E-mail, contacts, and music files.
Copy that file to an external disk-drive.

Then, take a deep breath, and reinstall Windows.
Reinstall MS Office.
Reinstall your anti-virus software.
Reinstall Adobe Reader.
Reinstall your other program.
Finally, reload from the external disk-drive.

When I close the laptop and reopen it, there is just a black screen and I can't get it to work. So I end up having to turn off the computer. Also when I go to the shut down from the start menu, the standby...

You probably have a sticking hibernate, or sleep button. Near the hinge, there is a tiny pin looking thing sticking up. When you shut the computer, this presses against a switch below the case and puts the computer into sleep or hibernate mode. If this sticks, it won't boot up right. Shut the computer down and use canned air to blow out at the pin opening to clear any debris.

Toshiba Satellite Goes completley off! Black screen, NO POWER!

Hi Steven, in my experience as a tech support agent, it seems that you're having an issue with your hard drive, sometimes it might also be an overheating issue, to be clear on that, please be sure to check the temperature of the computer when it shuts down, then the first symptom of the issue seems to be the clicking sound which ussually comes from the hard drive's reading head, this might indicate the hard drive is damaged and that it cannot perform as usual. The steps to troubleshoot the issue will be as follows; First please enter the BIOS/ System Setup of the system, by pressing the [Delete] as soon as the computer turns on several times, you will appear in a black or blue enviroment with some information from your computer. Check if the issue will happen there as well. Second, if the computer gets really hot at the point when it shuts down, please ensure that all the fans in the computer are running (you should be able to hear them), And be sure of the temperature when it shuts down, we must know if the computer is too hot to touch, or there is no problem with it. Third step, how long will the computer stay on? Will it always shut down at the same time?
The best solution for this issue would be to replace the hard drive, or defective fans depending on the troubleshooting results, if you're still within your 1 year warranty with Toshiba, you should contact their tech support team to replace the part.

As an aditional step to the troubleshooting you should also try to remove the hard drive, and let the computer on for as long as its necessary, to discard the hard drive from the issue, if it doesn't shut down then the hard drive seems to be the problem.

This is called the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD), as scary as the name sounds if your laptop isn't ancient you more than likely can save it. depending what you were doing on your pc last, installing a game or whatever, start it in 'safe mode'. it should start up just like a normal computer but with a few changes like anti virus disabled. From here you can unistall whatever you were last doing on the computer, clean it up and try get her running again, the usual stuff, try defrag the computer, right click the drive in my computer>tools>defrag now, theres also other options in there like clean up and error checking both will help. Try and save it yourself, if all this fails your computer fixing person will probly have to wipe your hard drive, in which you will loose all your data and start a fresh laptop.

It would also help to know what you last did on it, on the net? downloading stuff? installing something?

Compaq notebook won't boot up

Hi

When you boot the computer back up go into Safe Mode and check to see if you can roll the computer back to the point before you installed the software.

If so this should work. If it works then run a virus scan, a defrag of the hard drive and cleans the temp files.

OR

You can do a diagnostic startup and uninstall Onecare. So once that it is uninstall ed it should be smooth sailing.

Here is a link for some startup / diagnostic software you could try after booting.

I hope this helps

/Shawn
