Question about Black & Decker Black Decker Dualtemp Soldering Craft Iron CI500S
I Have the black and decker soldering iron. it says it goes from 500/900F so i picked up some aluminum soldering rods workable at 700-750F But nothing happens. Iron is on highest setting and is hot. Any suggestions? I'm trying to repair a xbox 360 Head set, by the way.
Sorry, this iron will not do the job. Yes the temp is higher than the solder, but once you touch it to the work, the heat is gone in Aluminim as it conducts heat at a very high rate. You need more wattage AND the upper heat level. A flame powered tool might be more appropriate. Contact Weller on their web site for recomendation
