Go into your BIOS setup and find the 'CPU<->MCP55 HT Speed' setting. It should be 5x. If not, change it to 5x, and save and exit.

    m2ne motherboard
    can use .2000 / 1600 MT/s proscesor.
    DDR2 800/667/533 ECC and non-ECC, un-buffered memory,
    you are using 800mhz ram and your minimum fsb must be 800 mhz.not 200.if it is 200mhz please contact asus helpdesk.

Trying to upgrade a Compaq SR1020NX computer. The HP website still has old info, likely based on the original bios. The motherboard is an Asus A8M2N-LA. What CPU upgrades will run on that board? Is there...

The ASUS A8M2N-LA is the motherboard used by HP for the new D4500e AMD AM2 PC.

Here are the details:
Motherboard manufacturer's name: ASUS A8M2N-LA
HP/Compaq name: Nodus-GL8E

E2180 Vs Athlon 64 X2 5000+

depends on what you plan to do with the cpu amd are good but a 3200 may only run @ 1.8 to 3.2 ghz depending while a intel 3200 will run 3.2 ghz.
I believe intel are more stable & run cooler than AMD but AMD benchmarks on Games better but run hotter (so get a good cooling fan & heatsink both pentium / celeron d & intel dou / dual core / core 2 dou and amd x2 have 2 cores (but watch your front side bus and cache the higher the better but the more $ also) then You need a good stable mobo that supports the chip you get (I preffer asus & msi for Gamers and biostar / msi for home users)

Motherboard Issue

Hi Tomokato,
This maybe nothing but the first thing I checked is the CPU.
Supported CPU list through Asus web site for M2N-SLI
(Click on this link). http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N-SLI
The first supported 64 X2 is;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2
Second CPU supported;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (DD),1MB,65W,rev.G,SocketAM2

The CPU that you are using is not supported.
Since this is a new CPU, you might be able to exchange it for the Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2.
Link to Asus main web site for M2N-SLI.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-SLI&SLanguage=en-us
Suggest you add the above link to you're favorites.

Even you're memory is not supported. As seen in user manual page. 2-13.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.

AMD Athlon 64x2 can't install, help!

which version update did you do?
only after 0804 will work

FAQ from ASUS

My system may refuse to boot under AMD Althon64 x2 6000+ CPU (OPN :ADX6000IAA6CZ) with 2x DDRII-800 memory combination.
The same problem does not happen with other CPUs, nor would it happen with memory modules of any lower specifications.
How can I solve this problem?
Please kindly update motherboard BIOS to version 0406 or later to resolve this problem.
BIOS 0406 can be downloaded form the link below:
