Question about Akai PDP4294 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma Television

Buzzing Noise A buzzing noise emits from the back of the TV when it's on but not all the time. I notice that when the picture changes the noise gets stronger then goes down until it goes away. But then it comes back. It is most annoying. Could it be a circuit board that is on its way out? Thanks

Thanks for the response. I did take the back cover off and sprayed the power circuit board with a cleaning solution for circuit boards I bought from Radio Shack. Of course the TV was unplugged & waited for 4 hours to allow the solution sufficient time to dry. However, the noise was still there & I noticed that one of the two big round components on top of the board (oriented with the TV upright) has the top seal buckled (I have a feeling it is breached) and hot to the touch compared to the other one beside it. Also the buzzing noise seems to be coming from behind the cover of what looks like a heat sink. Tried to open the top cover but could not & left it alone before I break it. Maybe I should try and get the board fixed?

    Thanks again.

It really sounds like your power supply is having problems with heat and not enough cooling inside your tv. You should if you can take the back cover off, also, and blow out all the lint and dust that has been drawn into the tv over time. Usually a couple of years is enough to build up dust and lint that can cause tiny static discharges inside your set. If there is a way of keeping your set cooler by placing it in a different position where there is sufficient room for air to circulate without restriction around it, that would help as well. The power supply the one with the power cord going to it from the inside should be your culprit. Good luck and God bless.

Try another input and another source such as a DVD player. If you still get the buzzing sound, you could have a faulty power supply output or a fault in the audio circuit of the main board.

Tv making loud buzzing noise

A common cause are failure of decopling capacitors in the audio section, and or the circuit board power distribution that feeds the audio board. Most of the capacitors are surface mount components. The standard fix is to start by changing the circuit boards that have the defective parts.

If the set is under warranty, call for warranty service. Out of warranty service is expensive for these TV sets.

I have a proscan 42LA45H 42 in television that has started making a buzzing noise from the back. What is causing this, and what do I need to do to fix.

Hi
If picture and sound is Ok, and only this buzzing sound is heard from the back of the TV, It should be due to core soose of some ferrite cored transformers inside, especially to the power supply regulator board of the TV. Open the back cover of the TV and swtich it ON. Listeen very carefully which transfromer makes the buzzing noise. Just trouch and press the core of the transformer suspected with some non-cunductive material like glass rod, or a stick of dry wood. You can identify the transformer that makes noise by this way. After identifying the exact transformer; switch OFF the set, unplug it from mains socket, apply some "Super Glue" like fast boanding glue to the joint of core of that transformer. Allow sometime for the glue to set. This will solve the buzzing sound problem of your TV. OK

Have just bought an LG37LD450. Buzzing noise coming from the components at the back of the TV. Annoying. Otherwise TV perfect. Definitely not sound problems because buzzing noise still there when on Mute....

Had this problem as well. Ran through a laundry list of possible solutions. Finally found that the key is to increase the backlight (Access via [Menu] [Picture] ) to 100% and the noise goes away. If this is bad for the life of the backlight, just pray the backlight burns out inside year 1 while the warranty is still valid!

Hi, I Purchased an LG 50PK350 plasma tv and I am experiencing an extremely loud, annoying buzzing sound even with the amp switched off & the sound muted. The buzzing is not constant ... the brighter...

I have this tv aswell, and yes I will confirm that it does buzz quite alot, but all plasma tvs do, it is to do with how it renders images, the buzzing can be made worse by it being close to a wall and it reflecting back. I found that my tv stand some how amplified the buzzing when i got mine. I dont think its something you can escape.

Mine i notice also when scrolling around menus seems to have lines that follow your selection....not to pleased about that

TV EMITTING A BUZZ NOISE

You have a cracked Plasma panel. If u remove the back cover of TV and look in the top left of the plasma panel u will see a small round cylinder tube with glass tip inside. Look with a flashlight and u might see the crack. OH the buzzing noise is from the current going through the panel just not ignition the gases inside the panel to light the phospher cells. Hope this helps.

Plazma TV buzzing noise

I have the same problem I can hear buzzing over the volume of the tv into the 30 range. I've had a tech out 3 times and he's coming out for a fourth. He's changed to power supplies and is bringing the 3rd next visit. From what I've read it has either to do with power supplies or grounding strips.

Constant humming/buzzing noise

I purchased a poloroid tv 3732 in may of 2005 from circuit city, after about 14 months the set began making a clacking sound and humming sound that gets so loud it is unbareable. I have to turn the set off. I have found out I am not the only one with this problem that has a poloroid tv. I had a technician at my home that told me there is a service warranty on these sets because the wrong part was used and the part needs to be replaced.
