Question about HP PSC 500 All-In-One Printer

HP PSC 500 print cartridge all in one

Hi I have a HP 500 that I have been using as just a copier. I do not have it hooked to a computer. It stopped copying so I replaced the print cartridges. Now it will not make a copy. How do I setup the cartridges to print. The small window on the printer says there are no cartridges installed? This was the first time I changed the cartridges since it was new Thanks

    Our HP PSC 500 was working fine as well and now we have a message that says..."remove and check the black cartridge". We removed and checked it, nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. We loaded more ink into the cartridge and reloaded it - got same message. Have turned off power multiple times and every time immediately after initializing get the same message as above. Please help.

    After installing a new print cartridge, Does a message appears on the front panel that the print cartridge is low on ink. This may be caused by installing the cartridges with the power turned off. Cartridges should always be installed with the power turned on.
    HP all-in-one products track ink usage by counting the drops of ink sprayed. This is the best method for determining how much ink remains in the cartridge. Any other method would require additional circuitry within the print cartridge, which would increase their cost and complexity.

Remove both cartiges and turn turn it off make sure you put the flaps down before you turn it off. then turn it back on and insert both back in there gentle and pull down the latches slowly and carfully as to not break it and then alighn cartiges with the front panel messages touch select-resume to align them until it says copy in the front panel messages that should get it working again.

Hi
Please note that the print cartridges can only be accessed when the printer is on.
  • Turn the printer on.
  • To access the cartridges,open the cartridge access door on the front of the printer and right above the paper output tray.
  • The cartridge carriage moves to the center so you can access it.
  • On the top of each cartridge is a latch,lift it.
  • You need to grasp the handle at the top of the cartridge pull forward and lift it up to remove.

Cartridge calibration pending in your printer. Put printed align page in to scanner and scan it.. ensure that mono & color cartridge should be in good healthy condition..

I just hooked up my hp psc 750 printer to my laptop do you have to have a color ink to use this all in one printer


Yes you have to use both the black and color cartridge in order for the printer to work. Both cartridges need a good supply of ink in them to, or it wil not print.

Hi,

The printer prints alignment page; after enter button.
Place the printed page in scanned glass properly.
Press the scan button and wait untill the ON light stops blinking.
Now alignment is completed.

Multiple printers printing crooked


the hp psc 500 has to be used on a ecp port only that may have something to do with it hp included the ecp patch in the cd that came with the printer. go into you bios and set the port to ecp only that might help also install another driver.

According to " HP Officejet R, PSC 500 and Color Copier - General Copying Issues and Solutions", under the problem heading "Black is not Black", notes that:

"The unit will perform mono (or black) copies using the color cartridge to create a composite black in Normal and Best modes. This is necessary to create the correct grayscale shades. NOTE: The HP PSC 500 all-in-one product cannot perform black copies. Scan the image in and print it out in greyscale.

The color cartridge may be out of one color of ink. Run a self-test page to verify that all the colors are there. Replace the cartridge if they are not."

In other words, the device only uses the black ink cartridge when used as a computer printer. When used as a stand-alone copier, it uses the color ink cartridge, and all three ink colors must be present and working to give a black and white copy. Perhaps you can refill the color cartridge with black ink in all chambers?

My PSC 500 printouts are missng lines/colors... and it's not hooked up to the PC.


Hi there, the first thing I would ask is, do you think your toddler may have spilled something in the printer? The second thing I would suggest, replace the color ink cartridge. If you have an old empty one, put that in and see if you get a different result. It has been my experience that a lot of the generic or refilled cartridges have problems. I would recommend a new HP brand color cartridge. That is if you can eliminate a liquid spill. John
