Question about Sony KP-51WS510 51" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.
Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors.
Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com
They have put together a kit for your exact model.
The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.

This type of convergence problem is not likely to be fixed by the autoconvergence procedure outlined in the manual. Either the connections at the convergence ICs are defective or the ICs themselves are defective. If you can solder and are comfortable working inside the set where there are potentially dangerous high voltages even when unplugged, you can fix this yourself. Please update this if you wish to attempt the repair. The parts cost will be between $25-$50 total.
