Question about Sony XL-2100U Projector Lamp for KF-42WE610, KF-50WE610, KF-60WE610, KDF-60XBR950, KDF-70XBR95
Sony Model KF42WE610
You need to replace the lamp which is located in the front under the plastic cover. The plastic cover extends the length or width of the TV. The cover can be kind of tricky to take off, but it is just held in by pop-in type rivets that snap in like a male into a female hole along with removing the 2 large screws on the back side on each left and right side. You can't miss these two larger screws. There are two other smaller phillps screws there, but you should not have to remove these. After you remove the large screws only the front pops off and it may feel like you are going to break the plastic front cover, but it does pop off and pull straight out. The lamp will be visible right in the front and is held in by two screws and after removing the screws the entire light assembly slides right out which is plugged into a socket. You can buy just the bulb or for a few dollars more the entire plastic box assembly with the bulb already in it. Replacing it should only take about 10 minutes. Hope this helps.

You will need a hex screwdriver to remove the 2 screws to the original lamp assembly. Sony ships them with the replacement lamp. The one we ordered from DLP did not come with the hex screwdriver, so be sure to ask what size hex screwdriver to have or if they can add one to your order when you buy your replacement lamp.
