Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Reboot the computer with the printer powered on (do not shut it off). Sometimes communication between the printer and computer gets disrupted - sometimes one or the other is turned off and vice versa. By rebooting, the communication should re-establish. If it fails after re-boot, check the device manager for the status of the printer driver.

I receive a cannot connect to pc when I press the button to scan. What is causing this error?

Sounds like your scanner is not longer connected to your PC- have you checked that the scanner is plugged into the PC. They can move an get dislogged

also check that the PC is still registering the scanner by

  1. Close all applications.
  2. Open the all-in-one product Toolbox, an icon on the desktop, or in the program group for the product.
  3. Select the Services tab.
  4. Select Test Product Communication.
  5. When complete, and the test passes, open the application you want to scan into, and select the Scan option to verify the fix. For a list of the applications that support this feature, see the document "HP ScanPicture Utility Overview and List of Supported Applications."
  6. If this does not work, uninstall and reinstall the software. Consult the User's Guide for assistance.
When communication is lost to the product (for example, the power was turned off and on), some features are lost. Running the communication test re-establishes communication between the computer and the product. Regards Liz

When I touch the Scan Menu button, and choose scan to computer I get a message that states: No Scan Options I have been scanning for a year. This happened suddenly and I can't figure out why

Thanks for using FixYa. Due to any reason when the HP Communications process fails the HP Scan application won’t work. To resolve the issue you’ll need to follow the procedure as given below---

  1. Force Quit HP Communications (if running)
  2. Force Quit HP Scan (if running)
  3. Turn the printer off
  4. Turn the printer on
  5. Select Scan Picture from the HP Director application
  6. When the HP Scan application complains, press Reset
  7. HP Scan will then hang, but HP Communications will restart
  8. Force Quit HP Scan (again)
  9. Select Scan Picture from the HP Director application (again)

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

please also make sure the usb cable is secure to both the printer and pc.

Lost communication of hp printer to our pc


It is a power problem Check all cables to ensure they are plugged and snug. Also, you may turn off both computer and printer. Unplug all cables to inlude USB cable to PC. Boot up PC to ensure all ports are in power and then turn on printer.

Unable to establish two-way communication error


1)right click the my computer icon
2)click properties and then click hardware n go to device manager.
3)uninstall all usb ports and then scan for hardware changes
4)ur pc will detect your printer and ask for printer drivers
5)re load drivers and your pc will communicate with your printer
6)for reloding install the cd follow the instructions on the screen and click next
7)restart when the printer is loded.connect the wires and cords properly.

try plugging the printer into a different usb port,
if it works, the usb port has gone bad
