My passports and all other papers are ruined b/c of severe mold totally covering all documents. I could clead the outer covers of the passports but the inside is paper. The velvet inside my jewelry box (also in the safe) molded also. Seems I can't keep anything of value in there.

Need more info, if safe is subject to cool and then hot you could be exposing it to condensation and moisture. If not then there is a product to dry it out. Buy a bucket of dessicant, or DRY RID and it will draw all of the moisture out of safe.

Desiccant moisture absorbing packs will help to absorb some of the excess humidity in the safe. In addition to the desiccant packs, we suggest that you open the safe at least once every two weeks for approximately 20 minutes. To alleviate some of the musty odor, we suggest that you remove the items from the safe and wipe the interior with a paste of baking soda and water. Do not store your safe unit in areas of your home or business with already high humidity levels such as a basement or cellar as this will add to the moisture problems. You can get desiccant packs from the following link: http://www.sentrysafeshop.com/Moisture-Control-Desiccant-Packets-p/desiccant%20pack.htm

When I turn the air conditioning on in my 2013 GMC Terrain there is the smell of mold. Apparently the air conditioner doesn't get rid of any moisture left after using it.

There is a procedure for this condition. GM says to flush the core with a cleaning agent they sale. I have found Lysol Fresh scent does a much better job of curing the condition.Spray the Lysol in the outside air intake vent while the vehicle is running with it set to max a/c and fan speed also on max. It will take about 1/4th can to fully clear the mildew smell and stop it from growth. When parking the vehicle always put it in max a/c position so the fresh air outside the vehicle will dry out the coil.

Mold in dryer

Mold grows in dark damp areas with reduced ventilation. Mold does not grow if humidity is below 60%.. If the area is air conditioned or dehumidified simply leave the door open. You could also park a "damp-rid" in the dryer when not in use. Don't forget to take it out before loading.

SAMSUNG WASHER SMELLS AND STAYS DAMP

I fixed the bad odor problem once and for all!
This problem is caused by mold and mildew growing in a large ventilation hose that runs from the top of the wash drum to a large vent hole in back of the machine.

To correct this problem you can buy a kit from http://washerfan.com/ or do the cheap fix like I did.
Step One: Find the vent grille on the upper left corner of the machine. Remove the machine top, only a couple small screws hold it on.
Step two: Remove the hose clamps that hold the hose to the drum and grille then snap out the plastic grille.
Step three: The grille is convex so I used a belt sander to make it flat then I took a computer case fan that was the same size as the grill and hot glued it to the plastic grille. I wired it to an old 12 Volt phone charger (12V 500 Ma) and made it blow air INTO the vent.
Step Four: Put everything back together and enjoy a stink free washer because the mold can no longer grow in that hose.

Note! You must bleach, clean and scrub that crud out of that large vent hose and it is some kind of gross! If you're allergic to mold please wear respiratory protection. My fan has been blowing air into the washer 24/7 for six months and I have seen those case fans run non stop for years. It it dies just snap the hot glue beads and put another fan on it. Total cost for the entire fix, about $10.00

Also note that you have to leave the door open a little bit for the air that blows in the back to blow out the front door.

Excess moisture causing mold to grow

The moisture in the trunk is coming through into the car with air movement, since the trunk is not air tight to the car interior.

Let's do the trunk first.
Remove the spare tire and carpet and all else in the trunk and dry it out. I would used small space heater or a blow dryer or anything else that will heat and dry the air. If you want to fix the water leak, you will need to find out where it coming from.
The most common place is the gasket around the trunk lid.
After that, a rust hole somewhere in the trunk.
You may find a new gasket hard to find, and if you do, not easy to replace as well.
Finding a rust hole might require you to take a strong light and have a helper to look either inside when you have the light outside, or outside when you have the light inside the trunk, (night works best).
On older cars, I have often made a permanent hole in the lowest part of the trunk to drain out water leaks.
Make a hole about 1/2" diameter of more, so it won't plug up. There are sometimes rubber or plastic plugs you can remove to drain the trunk as well.
Make it so stuff you replace into the trunk will not cover that hole. Carpet holds water, so you may choose to put a new piece of something in there, or nothing.
Read the instructions below on usuing "Damp-Rid" plastic buckets in your trunk.

Now lets go inside the car.
I recommend you dry out the inside with a space heater or blow dryer as well, for a day or a few days.
Then,
Lumber yards and hardware stores and such places sell a small bucket of stuff called "Damp Rid"" This is plastic tub full of white crystals that absorb water out of the air. Put one or two of these in your car on the floor of the back seat and maybe the passenger's front seat. Follow instruction on the container, and they will remove moisture from inside your car.
NOTE: You must be careful because they work with the top open, and therefore will spill accumulated water when you start and move the car, they'll tip over. If you put them in the trunk, don't forget them there.

I have a brinks home security security fire/water proo fsafe QC3530 NOAH 184535 - I opened the safe and was astonished that all the contents, papers, coins, etc. had a musty, damp and some mold. Any...

I would add a "dri-air" dehumidifier to the contents and it will **** up all the water. Then change the location to some place higher as humid air like to "lay low".

Keyboard sticking

Clean the keyboard. Most of the keys can be safely "popped" out using a nail file or other thin lever. Don't pop out the larger keys, like the space bar, because they have a small wire spring in most models that can make them difficult to reinsert properly. Use canned air, a Swiffer, q-tips, or other methods (nothing wet, but a damp cloth that doesn't drip is OK) to get the obstructions cleaned away and then put your keys back.

Mold in fire safes is common :(

Most likely, Due to possible dampness in your home collecting in the air tight small container would be the cause of mold. Or it could be humid in the safe that would result to mold because mold would grow in the small dark area. All you really have to do is clean the safe with lysol or some type of antibacteral cleaner..wouldent suggest water alone for obvous reason of it being the possible problem to start with.
Hope this helped.

Maytag Neptune W/D (Stacked) Drying Irregularly

Mj, 90% of the time long dry times are caused by a pinched or clogged vent. Other things that could be causing this are: cycling thermostat trips too soon, if your dryer is a gas model, weak gas valve coils, drive motor centrifugal switch not allowing voltage to the gas valve or heating element. Check the harness to the motor to make sure it is on tight. Catriver...post back.
