Started out not coming back on after night time inactivity. Now it won't come on at all, but the power button is flashing yellow.

Now I have figured out that the monitor does come on after about 2 or 3 minutes of the power light flashing off and on. While the light is flashing, there is a clicking sound that gets progressively louder until the monitor comes on.

I have the same problem. Is this monitor bad or can it be fixed. I turn on my computer and the power cord is on along with yellow light on bottom of the monitor, however the whole sceen is black. Is there a cure aside from throwing it away.

    Thanks for you suggestion.

same problem as others, loud clicking so I powered down monitor and have not been able to get it to display an image since. The power indicator light is slightly flickering but the screen is totally black. I have been reading a lot about power supply problems, is this the culprit here? Is it better to replace the power supply or just buy a new monitor? Can't be without a monitor for too long.

So lets say your the average joe, how do you find out about the two solutions you suggest. Why would I have a bad capacitor problem if the computer runs for several hours a day and is inactive at night. If no one is in the back or inside of the CPU why would there be a build up of electrostatic charges and how does one rid the computer of them. Final question; I put a second monitor on the computer and the new (second) monitor works fine, I put the monitor with the problem on second computer with same results flashing yellow monitor button. Both your responses suggest a problem with the computer (computer one) how do I get the monitor out of protection mode now. Monitor has been unplugged overnight. Thank you for your time.

I have the same problem power button flashes and speakers make a popping sound. I have test the inverter on another LCD and it works. I replaced power supply. There seems to be a problem in the Controller board somewhere. I have gotta three X2GEN Monitors all have bad controllers and there all different model. This company uses terrible parts. If anyone finds out what component went out on the board please let me know.

I had this happen to me, it finally wouldn't come on and I found 2 ballooned capacitors on the power board, they were 220uf 25v electrolytics, I replaced them and the problem went away immediately.

The monitor is probably on protection.

To start unplug monitor from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.

If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:

  • Video cable.
  • Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
  • Motherboard.

If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.

When on protection you keep having a flashing led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

The monitor is going into sleep mode and not coming out easily or now at all. Yellow light is flashing and does not turn green. Started coming out of computer stand by with this issue a few weeks ago......

Sounds like the problem I'm having. Research uncovered a common problem with failed capacitirs on the power supply board. If you look at the tops of the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board and any of them is bulging, you've found the problem. Check out http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Repair-Kit-X2gen-MW22U-DCAC0006-LCD-Monitor-Capacitor-P1799919.aspx for replacement capacitor set.

Monitor shows picture for 1/2 second then goes black, 22" display. also will not show display menus. have hooked another monitor up and works fine. also have hooked up to another computor and problem...

When you switch the monitors, do you still use the very same vga cable? If you don't, then it's time to change the monitor. When it turns on and off inmediately it means that it's receiving the signal, but that's it. If it's brand new, exchange it.

X2GEN CAPACITOR LOCATION

I had the same problem with my 22" X2Gen, first the monitor started what looked like a random color temperature shift, ie the screen would switch between a yellowish and blueish tint, then it wouldn't turn on and the amber standy by light flashed on and off. I took it apart and replaced the 2 220uF25V capicators with 2 220uF35V caps I got at radio shack, part number 272-1029. Don't worry about the voltage mismatch I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter, the voltage is the maximum the cap can withstand and has nothing to do with the voltage in the circuit. The caps are located on the board that the AC cord plugs directly into, it has a plastic (almost feels like paper) sheild, the caps are marked C812 and C813 on the circuit board. There was no 47uF35V cap that I could find, anyway replacing the two did the trick, all for under $3, I almost went out and bought a new monitor ;) Hope that helps.
