All I get is red, blue, yellow lines all bunched in the middle of the screen running vertically. What's the problem? I DO get sound.

So how do I fix it? What do I need?

  • runverferth Jan 10, 2009

With all the comments/problems listed with this TV, it sure seems like this model of TV is a POS!

I have the tv set. It is 4 years and 4 months old. Unfortunately for me, I had purchased a 4 years warranty. Now I have the three colors too. I find out its probably the light engine at a cost of approx. 500.00. POS sure describes this set.

When turned on, the TV shows only a narrow vertical band of colors that resembles the normal screen squeezed horizontally to the center. What is "horizontal lc"? Where can I purchase one to replace it?

Sounds like you Horizontal Ic is/has gone out from the description.

Depends on how technical you are. If you have a volt meter, you need to check the horizontal Ic (a 3 legged transistor mounted to a big heatsink). If it checks shorted, then you need to replace it. Sometimes the capacitors around it go bad to, but they will be obvious. Have you taken it aprt yet?

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

I have a apex GB5108 tv, the picture has become a red yellow and blue horizontal line in the middle of the tv. is it fixable

Thats vertical deflection failure . Check the solder on the vertical output IC and the Yoke plugs. If that doesnt help you may need a new Vertical IC

No picture but has blue green and red light down middle and sound

Hi,

Most likely a blown Vertical deflection output IC. In most (but not all) Panasonic, the vertical IC is an AN55XX.

Repairs should be fairly easy with basic knowledge of electronic circuitry and components and a little soldering. I would expect the IC to be readily available at any electronics part store. Should you be uncomfortable doing a DIY, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Picture shows only about a 2-3" blue, green,or red vertical line down the middle

If your seeing vertical line across the screen you need to check the components in the vertical stage as well as the vertical IC could be bad, or the yoke could open.
Also check if any voltage reaching the vertical stage.

Good luck.

Was this help full.
