Question about Sony KV-35S26 35" TV

1 Answer

1/3 of picture becomes partially scrambled

When first turned on, the picture is perfect. After 5 minutes or more, 8 inches of the bottom half of the screen becomes scrambled horizontally across the screen. Turning the tv off/on sometimes resolves this momentarily or after viewing for 30 min or more the picture may corrects itself and all is fine until the tv is turned off/on again. Very annoying. Any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like you have a frame fold-over fault, does banging the tv have any effect (slightly bang the set on the sides), if it does then its more than likely a dry joint, check all around the frame output chip, hope this is of some help to you

I have a Sony FD Trinitron 27' Model # KV-27FV310. It is approx 8 years old. After turning it on and watching a full screen for a few minutes; all of a sudden, a line came across half the screen;

top half missing is in vertical circuit of set---if it is a 27 inch and this old consider retiring it and replacing----other option is consider having a shop repair it--a rough guess would be as high as 150 dollars parts and labor is possible for your problems.

I have a toshiba 32 inch 1997 tv. When I turn32G90 it

It sounds like the picture tube may be weak (because it's orange) but it going to half ascreen is not caused by the picture tube but likely a vertical circuit problem. If this problem happened suddenly (going orange) then the picture tube is probably good and at least worth bringing in for an estimate.

If the loss of picture is either on top half or bottom half of screen. there are y buffer boards that go from top to bottom on left side of screen when looking at back that control those sections. when there is loss of half of picture then buffer associated with that area would be at fault and would need to be replaced. when i see a degrading symptom such as loss of picture on top half or bottom half leading to no picture issue normally you would check heat syncs on y sustain board and if not heating up after a few minutes of being turned on would recommend replacing y main and both y upper and lower y buffer boards as they complete a circuit

Sound and no picture

Hi, if your getting half a picture AND the other half is black the vertical circuit is failing, either solder is broken or vertical IC needs to be replaced, not a pricey fix, BMW Rider

Picture on Panasonic tv intermittently becomes striated and bottom half of picture shows on top half of screen

Hello! What you're describing sounds like a vertical deflection problem if it also occurs when you're watching a TV program. This type of trouble is a component failing in the vertical circuit of your set. A loose solder connection could cause this. On the other hand, if it just happens when you run the VCR, your problem could be somewhere in the tape drive mechanism or possibly a bad tape. Things like slipping clutches,bad belts sticking guide rollers are a few things that will cause this in a VCR. You need to have a tech check it for you. Hope this gives you some help. Stargazer

Set will not stay on

Better get this checked out by a technican. One possible reason could be coolant from the picture tubes leaking down onto the printed circuit board causing this symptom which could end up destroying the circuit traces on that board. Other possibilities include problems in the power supply or deflection circuits. If the set is over 8 years old, I would just replace it with a HDTV.
