Question about Sony KV-35S26 35" TV

1 Answer

1/3 of picture becomes partially scrambled

When first turned on, the picture is perfect. After 5 minutes or more, 8 inches of the bottom half of the screen becomes scrambled horizontally across the screen. Turning the tv off/on sometimes resolves this momentarily or after viewing for 30 min or more the picture may corrects itself and all is fine until the tv is turned off/on again. Very annoying. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Unfortunately, banging has no effect on this one. Nonetheless, where would the frame output chip be located, I will check it anyway along with any other suggestions you may have.
    Thanks

    where is the frame output chip.... I bang and can restore the picture..... when I bang (with wooden spoon) on the high voltage transformer (took back off) I can see the screen go in and out with horizontal lines and sweep to 1/3..... is there a socket under the transformer or in the vicinity..... Set is 11 years old and felt it was a connection....just not sure where....

    thanks,

Sounds like you have a frame fold-over fault, does banging the tv have any effect (slightly bang the set on the sides), if it does then its more than likely a dry joint, check all around the frame output chip, hope this is of some help to you

I have a Sony FD Trinitron 27' Model # KV-27FV310. It is approx 8 years old. After turning it on and watching a full screen for a few minutes; all of a sudden, a line came across half the screen;

top half missing is in vertical circuit of set---if it is a 27 inch and this old consider retiring it and replacing----other option is consider having a shop repair it--a rough guess would be as high as 150 dollars parts and labor is possible for your problems.

- Picture scrambled when set is

The TV has a bad board. It's called the Hyper board. It has been discontinued by Toshiba years ago so it is not an option to replace it. There are some TV repair shops that can rebuild this board by replacing most or all of the capacitors in it. You may want to call your local shop and see if they can do.

You have a burn in problem from watching widescreen movies.If you have access to a signal generator or tv setup disc run a perfectly white screen on the plasma for about 30 min.This should help even out the pixels on the display.
