My SMEG S800 freestanding washing machine does not spin
I have a SMEG S800 freestanding electronic washing machine. it does not perform a spin cycle any more and it is just out of warranty. when you select "spin" it sounds as though the drain pump is running, then it "clicks", the led's all flash "on" briefly then "off" and it keeps repeating this until you stop the machine.

Had a similar problem with our S800, found the little clip that connects the brake servo cable to the brake itself had broken meaning the brake wasn't being released and the tub wouldn't spin. Got the part from the local appliance parts supplier for $4.20 - job done, probably save $100+ on a service call out.

did he run the diagnostics per the tech sheet within the machine?if it will do everything else but spin out, then the drain pump is plugged,as a plugged drain pump will shut down these front load units, you will need to remove hoses off pump and clean out pump and all hoses from tub to drain stand pipe,by running the diagnostics you can run each washer cycle and see what cycle isnt performing in a matter of 5 minutes versus 1 hour real wash time on some cycles
This happens to me sometimes. My washing machine doesn't drain right into the drain, I have a pipe coming out of the back of the machine that I have to hook into the kitchen sink myself to let the water drain out. My washing machine was still full and I realized that it was because my sink was a little blocked and so it was draining too slowly and leaving water in the machine. If there was too much water, it would sometimes help to put the machine on again or put it on a drain cycle. My machine doesn't have a spin cycle so it will just give your clothes an extra spin so I couldn't do that and my clothes would still come out dripping wet. I advise that you give them another spin before you take them out if possible! xxThe fact that the washing machine is spinning but not drying clothes shows that there is some problem with the outlet of water. The water outlet is blocked. You can check for the blockage yourself. Normally threads or other waste accumulate in the water outlet, and if possible you can remove it yourself. Otherwise call your washing machine's customer services center and ask them to send a repair man
Try turning power off, unscrewing the back panel of the machine and removing, reaching inside and giving the wheel which looks like a waterwheel (has 'fans') a couple of turns. This is the pump and sometimes small particles jam the wheel. Turn the power back on and if still in mid-cycle should resume and finish.
Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.
