Can speakers be replaced

Yes. Radio shack has a nice selection of speakers. All you need to do is turn power off...take out speaker and go to Radio Shack and maybe an auto part store and bring it in.

I am going to fix a 42 akai lcd, saw the fix on the site, my questions is; are the capacitors ac or dc, radio shack only has dc. Very new at this. Thanks Nick

AC caps are used on a much larger scale (transmission & distribution, for instance). The Shack employees should know this ... (unless they were messing with you) Good luck!

TV no longer comes on, blue light appears but no picture.

I fixed my problem for $3.44 at Radio Shack.
This is a common problem with this model.. go to you tube and search for polaroid 37 lcd repair, there is a video showing which Capacitors to replace. there are two, i bought 2 1000uF 35 watt/volt capacitors. you have to take the back panel of the TV off, remove the power supply board, and de-solder the two CAPS. install the two new CAPS, re-solder them, put the TV back together and enjoy. Radio Shack part #'s i used 272-1032.

My husband is at radio shack now looking for the caps for our polaroid tv the salesperson dos not know what that looks like can you help?

The caps are electrolytic 1000uf (microfarad) 10 volt capacitors. I tried to get them at the radioshack locally and they didn't carry any smaller than 35 volt. I didn't want take the risk so I ordered them from this site. Try it if you can't find them locally.

Power Supply rapair

I fixed my Akai LCT3201AD in about 30mins. using 3 small parts from Radio Shack. Once I got the back off, I found the power supply board (PSB), mine was part# MLT-169B rev1.2. I looked at the capacitors (caps.) first, because they are usually easy to diagnose. I noticed the caps. bubbled out on the top of the board (where all the cables connect to it). There is 3 of them in a row, positioned between the two large heatsinks. My guess is that the heatsinks are generating a LOT of heat over time, because of bad ventilation, and causing the caps. to fail.
I went to Radio Shack and found 3 caps. (only had 3 in stock). The original ones were 16V-1000uF, Radio Shack only carried 35V and 50V in the 1000uF caps., so I bought the 35V ones and headed home, I removed the old caps. from the board, and installed the new ones. The 35V caps, are a little bigger, so its a tighter fit on the board, be careful. It took longer to remove the back from the TV than it did to do the soldering. YouTube.com has excellent videos on how to de-solder caps. on PSB's.

Total money spent on repairs:
$1.59 ea for 3 Caps. (part# 272-1032) $4.77
$2.99 for new soldering iron tip + $2.99
$1.00 donation for St. Jude's + $1.00
Total including tax $9.30

So for less than $10, I did a repair that my local TV repair shop wanted $575 for. Online stores want anywhere from $100-$275 for a PSB. If I get another 2 yrs out of it that's well worth $10.

Capasitors.

find the three capictors on the main power board, they are about the size of a pencil, 3/4 of an inch long, un solder them, take one into radio shack and match it up to one that is the same size. DO NOT ask the sales person to help you find the right ones, the numbers on the capacitor will not match with theirs and they will tell you it will have to be ordered.this is not true, just get the ones that look like the one you took out. you should replace all three. firemarshel@yahoo.com
