Thank you for writing back. Tried your suggestion but did not fix the problem. Any other ideas?

Thank you for the advice. How do you reset the cartridges? They are new ones.

Non fa la scansione, perã² tutto il resto funziona. Ho pigiato il pulsante della scansione, il pulsante di accensione lampeggia, ma la scansione non parte.

Try a Perform a partial reset:

    1. Use the power button ( ) to turn the product off.

    2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the product and then unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.

    3. Wait 60 seconds and then connect the power cord to the back of the product.

    4. Plug the other end of the power cable directly into a wall outlet. Do not use a power strip, extension cord, or surge protector.

    5. Use the power button ( ) to turn the product on.

Un-hook it from the computer. Turn it off then on. See if it may be a code from the computer causing it.
Also, Check inside and make sure there isn't anything that is keeping the carriage from moving freely .
Also, Have you changed cartridges lately?
Reseat the cartridges.

Take them out, make sure that you removed the tape from the cartridge and re-install them. Verify that they are in the correct holder.

Printer wont print, computer communication error that wont send information to the printer, but the scanner will scan to the computer. Power light on the printer blinks 2 times, pause, blinks once, pause,...

“All lights blinking” is indicative of serious ink cartridge issue. Usually when this happens the printer fails to goes through the motions of the printing process, kind of stands still. If it an All-in-One it still scans though. This could be as a result of eithe of these of scenarios.
i. Ink cartridge has developed incompatibility. Solution is to try an older/another cartridge (doesn’t matter if ink is finished. You must replace cartridge one at a time). If lights stop blinking it confirms that your cartridge has become incompatible or developed incompatibility. Also if your printer is the type that can work with only one cartridge, remove one after the other (closing back the lid/cover) to determine which in the set (black or color) has become incompatible. At the instance the incompatible one is removed and you close the lid, the blinking will stop (for printers that can print with one ink cartridge only). Just replace the incompatible one and start printing again. In most cases the issue is always with one cartridge. But if both are affected, you have to replace both. Because of this problem, always keep used cartridges somewhere safe; they come in handy for this type of troubleshooting.
The electronic panel on the cartridge that makes contact with the cartridge carrier inside the printer is dirty and needs cleaning. Solution is try to clean with a piece of folded tissue paper soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Also clean the area in the cartridge carrier/holder that makes contact with the cartridge’s electronic panel. Allow to dry well and return the cartridges, close the cover. The blinking should stop if the electronic panel is the issue.

Lights are flashing on printer and it will not print . the voice says there is a problem with the printer. I did the alignment process but the voice keeps saying there is a problem. I took both cartridges...

There 3 light on the printer that able to indicate to user when problem occur. Which is the light u mean here?

1st button light blink rapidly = the printer may be out of paper, so load more paper and press the 1st button itself to continue. Or may be paper jam is occur, so clear the paper jam and press the 1st button light itself to continue.

If 1st button light blink slowly = mean the cartridge carriers are stuck, so raise the scanner unit and remove any object blocking the path of the cartridge carrier, make sure the cartridge are closed and installed properly, then lift the scanner unit, gently push the scanner support towards the cartridge carriers, and carefully lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed. After that press the 1st button itself to continue.

If 2nd LED light blinking = the color cartridge need to be replaced soon.

If 2nd LED light is ON = the color cartridge need to be replaced immediately.

If 3rd LED light blinking = the black cartridge need to be replaced soon.

If 3rd LED light is ON = the black cartridge need to be replaced immediately.

Power works, inside tries to move, then lights in front blink

My problem was NOT a printer, instead a scanner.  The assistant did not understand the problem.  While trying to explain the problems, the scanner decided to work.

Epson Stylus CX4600

If all of the lights on the control panel are flashing and you see the letter E in the Copy window, the print head may not be able to move back and forth freely. Follow these steps:
  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.

  2. Open the scanner.

  3. Remove any jammed paper or other obstructions from the paper path.

  4. Carefully lower the scanner.

  5. Turn the Stylus CX back on.
alert_note.gif Note: If you can't remove the paper or foreign object yourself, do not use force and do not disassemble the Stylus CX.

And the last thing you could do, is to check if the rod where your carriage slide is dry...if so put a little bit of oil on it

Wont scan

It could be the software drivers. Do you get an error light on the printer or and error message on the pc? Uninstall the software and drivers completely. Reinstall drivers.
