How do I test an ignition module

you truly can't. they have some tests but they're not reliable because we cannot duplicate hot running conditions. If you have no spark, suspect a bad coil.
p.s. most of the Echo line of hand held equipment come with a lifetime warranty on the ignition coil. but there is always a catch. go find Echo's homepage and check for yourself.

Not getting fire to plug, replaced ignition still no spark, echo pb-400e

With a good plug and a new switch there are a few remaining basic options. There is either a bad ignition coil or a bad wire or bad connection somewhere.

I hope this helps.

How do i adjust the coil on a echo pole saw to get the right gap to make it fire. and also is there a way to check the coil to see if it is firing

The correct air gap is 0.3mm, slacken the ignition unit screws, slot a feeler gauge passed the ignition units metal core, turn the flywheel around to allow the feeler gauge to get sandwiched between the units core and the magnets, now re tighten the screws. If the machine still has no spark, i fear it is a new ignition unit required.

Igntion coil on echo trimmer went bad, replaced with echo blower coil . there is a small difference in design but now have ignition. Engine still won't start.

Make sure the air-gap between your used blower coil module and the magnets on the Echo's flywheel is about the thickness of a regular business card. That is about .010"-.016". The gap HAS to be present in order for the module to produce the spark.

I need coil and spark plug gap settings for echo hc 1500 type E2 hedge trimmer.

0.026 inch, or 6-8 mm is the plug gap.

The ignition coil air gap range is 0.012 - .016"" or .3 - .4 mm. This is the gap between the flywheel and the ignition coil.

An easy way to gap your coil is use a normal business card between the coil and flywheel, tighten the screws and remove the card.

Plug replacement on a 2005 Toyota Echo 4 cyl engine

Hey alanacheson,
The spark plugs are underneath that cover on top of the engine (should say VVTi on the cover).
Just take that cover off, and then you will see the four ignition coils. Take off the four ignition coils (with igniters), and you will see the four relatively long holes underneath, and the spark plugs are at the bottom of those holes. You will need a good spark plug socket (preferably a thin wall socket) and a 6" or 12" extension. This is actually a very easy job, and can be completed in less than an hour.
Hope this helps.
