My HP Pavilion tx 1000 continues to freeze every few minutes.

I've tried restarting but the problem is recurring. It happens randomly, whether there are many or few processes happening.

It is a 2 posibility problem: 1)driver problem;
2) cpu to hot , you must check if the cooler work;if yes you must open the case take out the whole cooler and clean the radiator wings(a lot of dust) and then apply new termal paste , the old is crusty.
That must solve your problem.

Hp pavilion dv 1000 wont start up

if the dvd is the one that came with the Hp then u have to reload (format) the system. Or try to boot it through safe mode then disable the dvd rom in the device manager after restart the system that if u think the dvd rom is the problem.

scan your system for viruses if this doesn't solves the problem then try replacing the ram or check it using memory diagnostic tool
