Question about PC Laptops

Laptop won't power up dies in the middle of movie-won't power up

Brand: Acer Aspire 5672 WLMi New system similar config for $399 Best buy Specs: HD 120 GB, Ram 2GB, CPU Intel 1.8 Dual Core, DVD RW, Web Cam, 6 in 1 card reader, Blue tooth, ATX 1600 Radon, Wide screen 15.6 in Display + XP home + MS Office Symptom: When connected Power supply LED green Flickering, battery charge LED off, Power supply LED off Test performed (from Acer knowledge portal): If everything is plugged in correctly and it still will not poweron, follow these steps to complete a 'power reset' of the notebook.
1. Unplug the ac adapter. Keep ac adapter unplugged.
2. Remove the battery and keep the battery unplugged.
3. Hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds. (Nothing will appear on the display and none of the lights will light up.)
4.Release the power button and plug in the ac adapter ONLY. (Please notethat a power indicator light should be lit on the ac adapter when it isplugged in).
5. Normally power on the notebook.
6. If the unit does not power on, remove the ac adapter and insert the battery into the system.
7. Plug the ac adapter back into the system, the battery charging indicator light will light up.
If the battery charging indicator light does not light up, the ac adapter may not be providing proper power to the unit, and may need to be replaced.

Deduction: Inconclusive. The battery indicator light does not light up. Suspecting the Adapter but it could well be the mother board.
Did not try the multimeter test to determine out put of Adapter since Adapter LED is Green when not connected Adapter specs: Delta Electronics, inc Model: ADP-90SB BB; Input 100-240V~1.5A 50-60Hz; Output: 19V 4.74A Resources: AcerTech support for warranty 8008162237 - note system is out of warranty
AcerTech support $2.99 /min: 8776102237

Tech says: it is the Mother board and I need the replacement board, says there is some fluid leakage, can some one give a place to locate compatible mother boards or give me their opinion on this issue?

You would probably be better off buying a new notebook. Not sure how tecnologically advanced you are but it seems you already did the troubleshooting yourself. But i am very interested in the a/c adaptor output. If the led on the adaptor is green that just means that it is getting power from the wall.

What did you mean by fluid leaking out?

It could be the mobo (motherboard) or it could be the connections from the power to the machine. If you want to put a new mobo in I have to warn you that taking apart a laptop is VERY difficult and I do not recommend this unless you are a PRO. This is just about the only link i can find to buy a new board. If you google your laptop model you will find out you definately are not alone with this problem

Acer spire 5672 wlmi

Laptops usually have the graphics chip built-in on the motherboard and the video RAM is shared RAM (uses part of the main system RAM).
Try reseating the RAM modules and if it still does not work then take the RAM to your friendly computer repair shop to test the RAM.for you.

Is it worth putting a new system board in the laptop? Boards cost a lo of money both to buy and fit - better to buy another laptop and transfer your data.

If you want specs then go to the manufacturers support site and track it down from there
