Sorry, not enough information to offer a solution.
What model printer, what interface?
Latest Drivers are free to download from the manufacturer, most current versions of Operating Systems have the most common brands and models pre-installed on the machine.
If this is a multifunction unit then the manufacturers website is the best place to start.
From there look for a Driver Download or Customer Service tab.

Happy Hunting!

(WinXP: Click on Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart

Now click on Restart )

5) Printer plugged into power, NOT turned on. Plug the USB cable from the printer to the computer. Turn the printer on.
In the taskbar at the bottom of your Windows screen, you should see,

How do i connect my laptop to my printer so i can print things of my laptop

I will try to guess that you want your printer connected to your laptop as wireless.
-first you need to prepare all the things needed and make sure that you connected/installed the cartridges and you have located the port where your power cable needs to plug-in.
-2nd I hope your laptop does have an optical drive (CD/DVD drive).
-on the package of your printer there should be a drivers disk.
-you need to enter the drivers disk on the optical drive then just let it run.
-when you have the GUI of the driver there is an option to install everything.
-make sure that you did not connect your USB cable to the laptop if theres any.
-when running the driver it will come to a point where it will ask you to connect the printer (USB, Network, Wireless)
-if you have the USB cable, use that cable first to connect after you turn on the printer.
-later after the installation was completed, run the disk again then there should be an option to convert the connection from wired to wireless.
-if you dont have the USB cable comeback to me then I will give the the steps to connect it using wireless connection.

My wife has a laptop and she connects to the internet via wireless router. She sometimes needs to print. We have a HP PhotoSmart P1100 that connects directly to my computer. We have lost our original...

Normal 0 If you printer does not have a built-in network card then for the laptop and computer to print via wireless to this printer either then, the printer needs to be connected to a print server or setup as a shared printer. A shared printer is the cheapest and easiest option. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to setup a shared printer :-

Printer Sharing

on PC.... go to printer settings and set printer sharing to on and give it a name.

in network settings on both machines ensure they both have the same "Workgroup" name

then go into Network neighbourhood and press button for computer in my workgroup. you should find the PC listed there, double click on it and you should then be able to see the printer listed there, right click on printer and select install.. if asked for driver disk use to install drivers..

job done.....just like making a shared folder.

I have a hp deskjet f2180 all in one printer scanner copier we have tried to add to my lap top but the lap top does not recognise the hp deskjet f2180 and we dont know what else is compatable with

What operating system are you running on your laptop? This model only supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS/X. Make sure you have installed the printer USB drivers (included on the printer software CD) first. If you are connecting the printer directly to the laptop, all you should then need to do is connect the printer to the mains power, turn it on, and connect the USB cable between the printer and the laptop. If you are connecting to a printer that is connected to another computer, you mus make sure printer sharing is enabled on the computer the printer is physically connected to.

I may be able to provide a better solution if you can provide more information on your Laptop operating system and how the printer will be connected.
