No sound on the base unit speaker during call monitoringor message playback. Cannot access remote call-infeatures from another touch-tone phone.
If you still have a problem.
Suggestion ·
Adjust the speaker volume on the base unit.
·
Make sure you're using the correct PIN code.
·
Make sure that the touch-tone phone you're using can transmit the
tone for at least two seconds.
If it cannot, you may have to use
another phone to access your messages.·

HERE is the link to the manual for your unit.

Your model can handle up to 10 additional handsets.

De-register the Handset (Handset only)
Deregister the handset's ID from the main base unit or the base ID from the
handset. Use this option, for example, when you change the digital security code
(see page 74).
1) In standby mode, select Deregister HS in the menu and
press the OK soft key. D e r e g i s t e r H S ? appears.
2) Press volume up/down to select Y e s and then the OK
soft key.
When de-registration is complete you will hear a confirmation tone, and
D e r e g i s t r a t i o n C o m p l e t e appears.
3) After de-registering the handset, place the handset to the base to register.

Finding a replacement on eBay would be cheaper than repairing.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, an extra handset for the Uniden TRU8885-2 is still available in the market. Pls try here or here.

Should you still prefer a completely new system, most big name brands with their latest models would serve the purpose. For technical reasons, suggestions would be with those models with the antennas exposed. Some comparable if not better models are:

to name a few.

Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Appreciate the postback. To your query:

    • "Is there any way to get this hand set repaired" - in most instances repairs is possible. The question is the repair cost and the down time. Often in your country, repairs are done by board replacement rather than component level. Board replacement would cost more and possibly challenging in purchasing a replacement board. In terms of repair/service fees, board replacement type of repair should not cost that much but component level would require more manhours (and therefore be expensive comparatively);

    • "would it be less expensive to just purchase another hand set" - yes.

RE: " no transmission/reception only/no dial tone "

That is not a setting problem.

If you have broadband, use the broadband filter, or replace it.

Test the phone on a different socket, and test a different phone cable.

If it is none of the above, then it is a broken contact or a short on the mic/speakers lines, and the phone must be taken apart to fix the problem.

test cables and socket first.

The step by step procedure to re-register
1. Remove battery
2. Hold down the * and # buttons and reinsert battery. You should hear a long beep. If not retry. (This is a bit awkward but hold the handset upside down and it's workable)
3. Screen will be blank. Immediately press the right soft menu button.
4. Screen will report that EEPROM is clearing and then state EEPROM Clear Ok
5. Remove battery (yes again)
6. Reinsert battery (this time there's no need to hold down any buttons)
7. Handset will reboot with Welcome screen and then state that phone must be registered (this is the status a handset should be in from the factory)
8. Place handset on base and it will register as normal

Hope this helps

Yes the first thing that you need to do here is to reset and re-register the non working hand set to your base phone and that will correct the problem,,,,

If there's a service center near you i suggest you take it there and have the unit check and hopefully they can still fix it, because there's a big chance that the unit already needs a replacement...

My V-TECH CS6229-3 phone base does not register the base phone but i can change another phone on this three phone set and it is registered and the phone

Is the handset you are trying to register de-registered? if not it will not register to another base until it is.first de-registered.
To de-register the handset do the following-
With a charged battery in the handset Enter *331734# then without pause Press and Release the Menu Select Button. You will hear a Beep. Handset would then be De-registered..
Then place the handset on the Main Base cradle and follow the instruction that come up on the handset display.if the handset still does not register then most likely the base memory is full and will have to be re-set .
To re-reset the Base:- Remove any handset from the main base cradle. Then Press and Hold the Locator or find HS or handset Locator button until the IN USE light comes on and begin to flash then release it and immediately with out pause press and release it again. That will re-set the base memory. All your handset will then be de-registered and will to be re-registered. Place each handset to be re-registered on the Main Base cradle and follow the instructions on the the handset display and they will register.

1. Press & hold End and # at the same time until you see the System Reset menu.

2. If you still have the base the handset is registered to, select Deregister HS, then select the handset you want to reset. If you don't have that base anymore, select Base Unavailable.

3. To confirm, select Yes. The handset displays "Handset not registered"

Now you want to register the phone again.

1. Place the handset in the base; the display should say Handset
Registering.

2. Wait until the display says Registration Complete (about 30
seconds), then pick up the handset and press Talk/flash.
You should now have a dial tone

Phone screen says "out of range" when it is within 3 feet of the charger.

The handset may have somehow become de-registered from the base. Try and re-register the handset. If it is stil saying it is out of range, make sure you are not too far from the main base, as a secondary charge dock does not transmit or receive any signals.

Uniden TCX905 cCordess phone Handsets # 3 and 4

If the handsets are not currently registered to any base, the SYSTEM RESET menu won't appear.

If the TCX905 handsets in question are actually expansion handsets from another Uniden Phone System, they are not true TCX905 handsets. To verify, remove the battery cover and battery, then look at the inside label. If it lists the model of a TRU9xxx phone system, your handsets are NOT TCX905.

Uniden unfortunately has programmed the expansion handsets from SINGLE LINE TRU9xxx phone systems to NOT REGISTER against the TRU9466. (Those same handsets register fine against predecessor model TRU8866 though).

My phone says no link to base but I am right beside it.

Sounds like the antenna on the base station is not receiving, or the cordless handset is not transmitting -OR- the sets have never been registered to the base station (please look up registering to base station, if the set has never been registered)

Did the cordless set work before?

The base station or the handset may just have a hick up, I would un-plug the base station and leave it un-plugged... now get all the cordless set(s), and take out the batteries from the cordless set(s). Wait for about 15 seconds for all the power to drain out of the sets, then re-install the batteries.

Once all the cordless sets are back up and working, plug in the base station and wait for about 1 minute.
This forces the base station to re-establish and link between the base station and the cordless sets.

Good luck

Vtech,5.8 3-phone w/digital recorder, model DS4122-3 None of the phones work they either say connecting or put back in the charger . these are only 2 months old?

To deregister ALL handsets:
Step 1: Press and hold FIND HANDSET on the main telephone base for 10 seconds.

Step 2: When the IN USE light starts to flash, release the FIND HANDSET button.

Step 3: Press and release FIND HANDSET again. The IN USE light will turn off and in a few seconds, all handsets will be de-registered.

Step 4: All handsets will show NOT REGISTERED.

To register a handset (register 1 handset at a time):
Step 1: Place the handset in the base unit or a charger that is connected to a power outlet. If PRESS FIND HNDST 4 SEC ON BASE does not appear on the screen after a few seconds, lift up handset and place in base or charger again.

Step 2: On the telephone base, press and hold FIND HANDSET for four seconds. Release FIND HANDSET once the IN USE light comes on.

After a while the handset will emit a series of tones, the newly registered handset will be assigned the lowest extension number not previously assigned to another system handset (1-4) when successfully registered. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 if the handset does not successfully register to the telephone base within two minutes.

REPEAT THE REGISTRATION PROCEDURE FOR EACH SYSTEM HANDSET.

Make sure the handsets are not receiving interference from other appliances, cell phones, etc.

IF deregistering does not work .. you will need to reset the entire system
Step 1: Disconnect the power to the telephone base.

Step 2: Disconnect the handset battery.

Step 3: Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the power to the telephone base.

Step 4: Reconnect the handset battery

Step 5: Wait about one minute for the handset to re-establish a link with the telephone base and then test the phone again.
You will need to set the time and date again after resetting the entire system.
