On/Off switsch does not work

HP Officejet 7410 All-In One. I could not turn the unit off using the switch so I unplugged it. Now I can't turn it back on. How do get it to turn back on. Is there some way to remove the contorl panel without losing all the buttons. If necessary I could just twist the switch wires together.

It's better you open the printer and replaced the defected power switch with identical rating,so its works .When you going to open the printer put a marker each cover you have taken out and a labeled the wires in order when you going to closed it cannot be interchange.Desmantling now a device new to you its not hard now, becaused if you have a cellphone with video camera, you take a video or camera each time when dismantling one by one or piece by piece ,with the aid of marker dismantling made be easy..

Hope it may help you;

Hp recommends if the product stops working properly and its still under the warranty, its suggested to send it to hp repair.

A service manual on the product would be great, but the price is very high
http://www.partshere.com/online/detail.asp?partno=Q5564A-manual

You will have to take the panel apart and inspect the power button, you may need to take the whole printer apart.

the problem may also be in the powersupply but thats unlikely since it worked fine before unplug.

I don't own the above service manual so my advice is limited in this case.

All the switch does is create a momentary connection that triggers a circuit board controller to shut off the printer, u will need to replace the circuit board which is in most case's is more costly than a new printer

No dont do that, just turn it off then unplug power cable. open it up by taking out all screws from the top cover where the power button is. when you get to the power button, see if its broken or loose or whatever and fix it by gluing it together if its broken or simply putting it back in place if its loose.

please dont forget to rate my solutioin :) thanks

It might also possible that the power cord of the printer is faulty.just replace the power cord and check out first before doing any thing technicall.and if the case of printer not getting power it can be a short circuit.

Use these steps to resolve the issue. It might not be necessary to complete each step to fix the issue. Step one: Determine if the product uses a power cable or a power module as the power supply If the power supply is a cable with electrical connections at each end, the product uses a power cable. Figure 1: Power cable On/Off switsch does not work - c00057913.jpgIf the power supply is a cable connected to a module or box, the product uses a power module. Figure 2: Power module c00745315.gif
NOTE: The power module might have a permanently attached power cord, or the power cord might detach from the power module. The term power module refers to both the power module and the power cord. Step two: Verify that the electrical connections and outlet are functioning

  1. If the product uses a power module, make sure that the power module part number is the same as the part number listed in the User’s Guide to ensure that the correct power module is being used.
  2. Unplug the power cable or power module from the electrical wall outlet.
  3. Unplug the power cable or power module cable from any power strips or surge suppressors.
  4. If the product uses a power module with a detachable power cord, unplug the cord from the power module, and then plug it back into the power module.
  5. Unplug the power cable or power module from the back of the product.
  6. Wait at least 30 seconds, and then plug in the power cable or power module into the electrical wall outlet.
  7. Plug the power cable or power module back into the product.
  8. Turn the product on.
  9. If the product still does not turn on, plug the product into an electrical wall outlet in another room.
If the product turns on, a problem exists with the power in the original room. If the product still does not turn on, continue with the next step. Step three: Verify that the power cable or power module is functioning
  1. Verify that the power cable or power module is compatible with another product, and then plug the cable or module into the other product.
  2. If the power cable or power module does not work with another product, replace the power cable or power module.
  3. If another product is not available to test with, carefully inspect the power cable and power module for visible damage. If the power cable or power module is damaged, replace the power cable or power module.
If the product still does not turn on, continue with the next step. Step four: Verify that the product is not grounding out
  1. Unplug the computer USB or parallel cable from the back of the product. Figure 3: USB connection Figure 4: Parallel connectOn/Off switsch does not work - c00057176.jpg c00057176.jpg
  2. Turn the product on.
  3. If the product turns on, replace the USB or parallel cable.
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

No you will have to open the front cover to remove the control pannel.but its quite possible that you would have blown the circuit of the printer by unplugging it directly.many a times this happens.that needs reparing internally.

HP Officejet 7410 prints OK, but copy and fax comes out black all but 1 inch

The problem is on the scanner...
You have to change "scanner assembly". But... here in Greece this unit has not spare parts.... The repair procedure is "unit exchange". You have to contact HP Service in order to inform you if they can change only the scanner assembly and not whole unit... You can call telephone support.

Sounds like the printer isn't passing the self diagnostics. Check for paper jams, pull the paper out and put it back in, check the ink cartridges.. unplug the equipment for about 30 minutes.
