If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me

sounds like the drain is blocked you have a plugged up drain in the freezer.when the machine goes into defrost the ice melts off the coil and goes down the drain in the freezer and drips down to the bottom pan where it evaporates, but your drain is blocked so the water can't drain correctly.you have to empty the freezer, remove the ice maker and shelves, remove the back wall and with a hair dryer melt out all the ice.after the ice is gone you have to clear the drain.i use a steemer to clear out the drain,if you don't have a steemer you can use like a turkey baster or anything that will blow through the drain line and clear it.when you think it's clear, pour hot water down through the drain to make sure it's clear.there's a heater you can install into the drain hole so this doesn't happen again, you can call your local parts store and tell them you need a drain heater or you can make one,get a 6 inch piece of house electrical wire, remove the ground wire from the casing, stick it in the hole until it hits the bottom of the drain, then leave enough to rap around the heater that melts the ice off the coil around a half inch and cut off the rest, when theheater comes on the wire heats up and stops the ice from blocking the drain. you want it long enough to go down the drain without hitting anything,4 to 5 inches is plenty, let me know how you make out

Water is dripping from the top of refrig from what appears to be a control unit of some type.. The freezer and icemaker work.

If the water is dripping into the ref. from the freezser chances are you have a clogged drain where the water runs out of when the machine goes into defrost. Take everything out of the freezer and look at the back of the machine and see if you have ice built up. The vents that ru from the freezer to the ref. are loacted in the middle and chances are ice has gotten into them and is thawing and running into the fridge. Unplug the machine, take the back freezer wall off and clear the ice away. I use a screwdriver to tap into the drain hole to clear the ice but you can use hot water as well. Once you see water draining properly down the hole, put it back together and your good to go.

We have a refrigerator model ET18NKXFW03 that drips water from the ceiling of the frig. We put a pan to collect the water but several times a week a stream of water leaks as well. It seems to happen more...

You will need to remove the food from the freezer and remove the ice maker if so equipped . Remove the 2 screws from the bottom freezer panel ( you will probably see a layer of ice here ) , and the 2 screws holding the inside rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the center , below the coils , defrosting , until you see a drain hole . You want to defrost this hole ( hot water helps ) until water starts to flow down . Use a small hose inserted into the drain hole and blow thru it , to remove any unseen debris , built up inside the drain line . Reassemble the freezer .

Water dripping down on top shelf of refrigerator compartment.

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back/bottom of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking into the freezer and down the vent into the fridge instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. Mike

Water dripping from bottom of freezer casing

Your drain line is frozen. Ice thawed by the heater in the freezer normally drains down a tube into a pan on top of the compressor, where it evaporates from compressor heat. If the drain freezes the water runs into the freezer bottom instead of the tube then into your fridge. To solve this remove everything from your freezer and remove the access panel in the back or bottom depending on your model of fridge. Turn off or unplug the appliance. Upon removing the panel(s). you will likely see that the bottom of the freezer is full of ice. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to thaw ice and remove. In the very back bottom you will uncover the drainhole. I usually use very hot water and a shop vac to thaw the drain hole. When you finally clear it you will hear water running into the pan on top of the compressor. Somethimes it takes a lot of hot water to clear the drain. Hope this helps!

ok pull the cover off the back wall of the freezer compartment where the evaporator fan is after look under the evaporator should see an aluminum pan with a hole there that's the drain hole for the defrost system if its frozen and that hole is stopped up then every time it defrosts the water will run in the freezer and freeze and also drip into the fridge remove the ice and clear the hole also check the drain tube in the back to make sure its clean

Cold freezer/warm refrigerator

Same problem with Frigidaire Gallery model#GLRT182SAW5 (dated 2002 on back of case)

Vents were blocked with ice. Vents (from top compartment to lower) located behind light. You can check by poking a chopstick up the (2) holes; be careful not to hit fan blades.

Solution:

- took freezer coil cover off in back; checked that defrost heater element was working (marked and rotated the timer in the hole next to light); checked that fan working. Found ice in the vents and defrost drip area. Got it out with hair dryer.

- cleaned compressor coils in back (check fan is rotating; also tweaked some of the compressor tubing bends to make them more smooth - read somewhere about a manufacturing defect ...); blew out drip tube from defroster while down there.

- Set the freezer control to WARM and the refrig control to COLD (THIS SHOULD IMPROVE AIR FLOW FROM TOP TO BOTTOM).

- Put thermometers in top and bottom. Checked that refrigerator cycles (not running continuously). Checked that cold air is coming down from (2) vents behind light.

OK: so far, so good. Lower compartment is 40 or under. Top is under 18.

CONCLUSION: Suspect marginal design. Had problems with another similar model where defroster ice doesn't drain correctly, pools and refreezes. Leading to blocked vents as well as blocked defroster drain and similar problem including dripping water from top to bottom and warm bottom.

MAYBE KEEPING THE FREEZER CONTROL AT WARM GETS AROUND THE PROBLEM?? ANYWAY, ITS WORKING FOR ME FOR NOW !!
